The night was dreary as Silentpaw slept in the apprentices den. Soon she would be going to the gathering so she thought she better sleep a little beforehand.
"Silentpaw," called her mentor Featherstar," It's time to go the gathering!"
"Fine," Silentpaw mumbled tiredly as she slowly groped her way around the dark cave.
As Silentpaw walked on the quiet path she could hear the faint calls of thrushes singing in the trees. She could see Enderpaw some distance behind her as she swam across the river to the small island where they usually met on for the gathering. This was Silentpaw's first gathering and she was eager to make it count. She could hear Moonpaw loudly blabbering to Lighteningpelt about this and that. Silentpaw wasn't sure if it was the way the moonlight reflected on the leaves. Or the way the water glistened near the land, but she loved everything about this place and she never wanted to leave. The island was lush and green and indescribably perfect to Silentpaw, she felt like she had a strange connection with the pond in the middle of the island where the gathering was held, like it was calling her. Foxstar, the beautiful caveclan leader leaped up onto the stone over looking the pond as she gestured for the other leaders to follow."I'll go first," said Olivestar," Moorclan has grave news."
"As you know from the last gathering, moorclan has had events where some of our warriors have spotted badgers outside of our territory,"
"Yes, we know," snapped Crowstar," You don't need to rub it in our faces again that nothing is wrong!"
"I was trying to say that Leafkit has been killed by a badger you mouse brain!" Yelled Olivestar.
There was an awkward moment of silence and then Featherstar took a step forward to speak.
"Things have been well in Brookclan, we have three new apprentices," said Featherstar," Moonpaw, Silentpaw and Frostpaw."
"I heard Frostpaw was a kittypet." Said Crowstar slyly.
The clans gasped and some of the Oakclan and Caveclan warriors spat in rage.
"That doesn't make her worse than any other of our apprentices, she has done very well!" Retorted Featherstar.
"I agree with Featherstar," said Foxstar calmly," We have warriors that were born in twoleg barns and some fight better than our clan born warriors."
"Thank you Foxstar." Said Featherstar appreciatively.
"Caveclan has been very prosperous, on a happy note, we have two new apprentices, Kestrelpaw and Rosepaw." Said Foxstar.
"Well ," said Crowstar glaring at the other leaders, "Oakclan has been doing well, we of course, have the most territory, so naturally our prey source has been plentiful and my son, Blackpaw, is now a warrior, he is now Blacktalon."
"Well I'm glad the dumb leaders are finally finished," snorted Moonpaw.
"Ya me too, but there not dumb, well maybe Crowstar is though." Silentpaw mumbled.
"Are you kidding me!," Screeched Moonpaw so that the whole island could hear her," Crowstar isn't just dumb, he is a disgrace to starclan that he was ever born!!!"
Crowstar flicked himself around maliciously smiling.
"Well, well, well little kit," he said slowly walking over," Looks like you have quite an opinion."
Moonpaw stood her ground looking him fiercely in the eye. He shot back a look of irritation.
"Don't!," he yelled," Ever insult me, or it will be the last thing you do!"
"Crowstar! How dare you threaten one of my apprentices" raged Featherstar.
Nightblaze was staring in horror at what might happen to her adventurous little kit.
Silentpaw glanced up at the moon, there were dark clouds forming over it and thunder started to rumble.
Suddenly Silentpaw felt confident enough to stop what was happening.
"STOP!" she screamed,"CANT ANYONE SEE HOW ANGRY STAR CLAN IS!!!"
"Silentpaw!" Said Nightblaze half shocked and half angry.
Everybody stopped and looked at the moon each a little afraid.
"Well then," said Olivestar glancing at Moonpaw," Let's all go back to our clans and hope nothing like this ever happens again.
