A/N: I'm honestly surprised if you clicked on this, considering I disappeared for several months. I had some stuff going that's kinda personal, but I'm back to writing and posting as often as I can. Thank you so much for your continued support. Now onto the story!
Maya's POV
The following Sunday Riley invited me over to her place. She had a double date with Lucas, they were going with Farkle and Smackle. She'd be gone most of the afternoon, so she wanted to spend a little time beforehand so I could help her with her outfit and goof off until she had to be cute and lovey dovey with Lucas.
When I got there I didn't think anything interesting or out of the ordinary could happen. But something always does.
I was sitting in the bay window. Riley had abruptly left, saying she had to pee. But I didn't question it. She was Riley. Suddenly, someone started to crawl through the window. I figured it was Lucas. He, like our other friends, tend to ignore the tradition of knocking on the door before entering someone's home.
But what I saw shocked me. It was Josh!
"Did I scare ya Hart?" he smirked before I could even get a word out. "No!" I said defensively. He smiled at me and my tough attitude faded and I just wanted to curl up in a ball and giggle for hours.
Wait, did I just say that?
There was a pause. "Why exactly are you here, instead of, I don't know, on your way home?" I asked. He shifted closer to me on the window seat. "Well it just so happens that I'm here for educational purposes," he said. I cocked an eyebrow. What was he talking about? "I'm assisting my dear brother on a unit about cinema. His main focus had been on trailers and previews. So that's what I'm here to show you." I stared at him silently. I wasn't exactly following. He continued. "Maya Hart, it is my top priority at the moment to give you the very best. But only you can decide what's best for you. So for the next week..." He trailed off. I nodded my head in earnest. I wanted him to continue. He sucked in his breath. His hands shook a bit. "I want to give you a, sort of, preview, of what our relationship would be like," he said in a rush. He looked up at me. I didn't know what to say. I must have looked rather silly, mouth agape, eyes shining, because he laughed out loud. I laughed too. And for a while we both just sat there laughing at nothing. It was perfect. Then I said, "So when do we start?" He smiled and raised an eyebrow. "How 'bout now?" I shrugged. "I got nothing to do," I said. "Great!" he said. "Got that stuff Riley asked you to bring?" I was about to say no, when Riley practically skipped back in the room with a large pink tote bag.
"Don't worry Maya, you're mom helped me get all your stuff together!" she said cheerfully. She thrust the bag at me. From what I could see there was my swimsuit, sunscreen, and a towel inside. "What's all this for?" I asked. Riley and Josh exchanged a look. "You'll see," they said in unison. And with that, Josh climbed back out the window, leaving me no choice but to blindly follow. Just as I was leaving Riley threw me a wink, and I knew, this was gonna be a fun time.
