Maya's POV
Thursday. What could he have planned for Thursday? The last time I saw Joshua Matthews, it was, well, awkward. It seemed as if he regretted kissing me at the park. Granted, we still had a great time, but I was a little unsure about what the day held.

Suddenly my phone buzzed. I looked down in expectation, and was a little disappointed to find it was Riley. It was already late, and I was beginning to wonder if josh had anything planned at all.

"Hey Riles," I greeted my friend. "PEACHES, HELP! EVERYTHING IS FALLING APART!" Riley squealed. After this I heard a flop, which could only mean she fell onto her bed dramatically. I sighed and held back a laugh. No matter how loud she squealed, she wasn't convincing me, I thought. "Okay Riles, what's wrong?" I asked calmly. I heard a crackling as Riley took a deep breath. "Lucas came last night, and he was about to kiss me, but the- but then...." More crackling. "BUT THEN AUGGIE WALKED IN!" Riley screeched. I couldn't hold back my chuckle this time. "It's not funny, Peaches," Riley said grudgingly. I inhaled, still laughing. "Oh come on Riley, it's not that big of a deal. And hey, at least you know he wants to kiss you." Riley was quiet for a beat. "I guess you're right; besides, I'm going to need a whole new outfit before this happens," Riley replied. "Oh, and I almost forgot!" My heart skipped a beat. Maybe she knew about Josh's plan for tonight. "Yeah?" I answered, trying to sound nonchalant. "Josh is picking you up at midnight. So take a catnap while you can, because we've got school tomorrow!" Riley laughed. I was taken aback. Midnight? Where on earth were we going? "Ookaayy...whatever you say Riles..."

Josh's POV
Tonight was one of the clearest, most beautiful nights that New York City has seen in a while. If you drive far enough out of town, there's a big, shimmering body of clear blue water; and its name is Lake Arboreal. Tonight at midnight, the owners of the lakeshore club were hosting a late night dance around the shoreline. And I knew how to get in. So, that's where I was taking Maya tonight.

Mayas POV
I was completely taken by surprise when I found out where Josh was taking me. It was hands down the most beautiful sight I've ever beheld. The lake was surrounded long painted stakes, decorated with bright, multicolored lanterns. It was like my favorite scene of Tangled. I know right, leave it to me to make a Disney reference.
As soon as we arrived, Josh took my by the hand and led me to a clearing that didn't have many dancers yet. Lost Boy by Ruth B began to play, and his hands drifted to my hips, and my arms locked loosely around his neck, as we began to sway.

Josh's POV
Maya was a natural dancer. She felt the rhythm in the best way, and we were so unbearably close....it was the best feeling in the world....

The song was nearing the end, and I felt Maya's hands begin to shake, as if she was nervous about something. I was about to say something, when I felt her lips pressed against mine. My mouth opened in shock, making her actions all too easy to complete.

As the song ended, all I could do was smile.

A/N: How cute, am I right? Alright let's go over the points I need to make.

1. I literally am writing and publishing this at 2:30 in the morning, so please forgive any grammatical or spelling errors.

2. All of the locations mentioned, besides Central Park, are fictional. I know nothing about the places in New York. I live in Ohio. :)

3. I chose to add the song Kid in Love, because that's what Joshaya is. Two kids in love. Although now I realize that Lost Boy would probably be more appropriate. Oh well. :)

Love, BooknookJules
