Chapter 1

As you all know my name is Sky Delgado. I am 5’8 with pin straight blonde hair and green eyes. I live in Las Angeles California, I just moved here last year. I live with my rich aunt, Dana, but I call her Auntie D. I go to Westview High, a public high school. I’m on the softball team with my two best friends, Angela Monroe and Rose Smith. My other friend, Zach, is on the baseball team.

We are sort of the bad-asses of Westview. Zach Ericson is the bad boy all the girls want. Angela is the mysterious girl, everybody thinks she’s emo or something but she’s the sweetest girl I’ve ever met. Rose she’s a total girly-girl, but boy can she pack a punch. And me, well some call me “a player”. Sure I hook up with guys occasionally but it’s not like I’ve slept with every guy in the school. I like to think of myself more as a tease. All the girls hate me, especially Nicole Jackson, the “queen bitch”. Now there’s a slut. You know the cliché high school group of the cool girls; well she’s the leader and captain of the cheer team. Anyway today is the first day of Senior Year, the last year until I’m free and off to college.

“Honey wake up. You need to shower and get ready or you’ll be late.” Auntie D says. “It’s 6:00 you have 30 minutes ‘til breakfast.” “Ughhh 5 more minutes please.” I beg. “Nope. Now if your not up by the time I come back, you won’t have to worry about taking a shower.” I jump out of bed so fast that I almost fall flat on my face. You thought she was joking, yeah, so did I the first time. Next thing I know I’m drenched in ice-cold water. Lets just say I always get up when she tells me to.

After taking a shower I straighten my hair and put on a pair of ripped skinny jeans, a loose red tank top, a black leather jacket, and a pair of combat boots. I only put on mascara and some lip-gloss. I head down stairs and am greeted by the smell of pancakes and eggs.  “Good morning miss Sky,” says Maggie, she’s our maid. “Good morning Maggie. Everything smells so good.” She puts a plate of pancakes with butter and syrup and eggs in front of me along with a glass of iced tea.

10 minutes later I’m driving to school in my black mustang convertible blasting Timber by Ke$ha on the radio. When I pull in I immediately spot Rose, Angela, and Zach. I walk over to them. “…asshole,” I hear Angela say to Zach. “Just because I don’t want to meet your parents doesn’t mean I’m an asshole. Rose help me out here,” pleads Zach. “Sorry, but that would make you an asshole in my book too,” says Rose smiling ever so innocently at Zach. As soon as they see me, my oxygen gets cut off in a giant group hug. “Guys….can’t breathe….slowly dying.” They eventually pull away except for Rose who is still hugging me as if I may disappear the minute she lets go. Zach eventually pries her off. “Nice to see I’m still loved. But from the sounds of it Zach, you, not so much.” He sighs and says “Ang wants me to come over for dinner and meet her parents. But everyone knows her dad hates me and he hunts for fun.” I give him a weird look and he elaborates, “If I say one wrong thing I’ll have about 5 new holes in my body and he won’t get in trouble. I mean he’s the sheriff who everyone loves, of course no one would question him.” As he is saying this he has on the most serious face I’ve ever seen him use. I start laughing my ass off resulting in Zach muttering under his breathe and storming away.

When I look up there is a blue Jeep Wrangler pulling in, which is weird because I’ve never seen it before. Once it parks a large group of people come out of nowhere and crowds around the car. “Who’s that,” I ask Ang and Rose. “That’s Noah Ferrara. He’s been captain of the baseball team since Freshman Year. Last year he went to live with his dad when he was diagnosed with cancer. He died over the summer. Now he’s back here living with his mom,” explains Ang. “And he’s a total hunk,” laughs Rose running over to the group.

She steps out with her arms wrapped around a guy who looks like he’s over 6 feet. He has short brown hair that’s spiked up in the front. He is wearing a tight black t-shirt and jeans. He isn’t one of those skinny dudes with some muscle either, he is clearly defined. “I wouldn’t mind licking whipped cream off of his abs,” I say licking my lips as he walks over with Rose. “Hey Ang,” he says. He looks at me then back to her, “Who’s your little friend?” “Pshh, little, please I’m 5’8. Just cause I’m not freakishly tall like you doesn’t make me little.” He smirks. “Freakishly tall? I’m only 6’2. Maybe your just freakishly short.” “Oh please. If you want freakishly short, check out the librarian. She’s like 4’8, which I think qualifies her as a legal midget.” He starts laughing and it sounds so sexy. “I like you. I still don’t know your name though.” “Sky Delgado.” “Well nice to meet you Sky Delgado.” Then he does something that makes me laugh, he picks up my hand and kisses my knuckles. “Well I’ll catch you all later.” With that he winks at me and walks away.
