The Girl From The Park

Ryan Higa, famous comedian of YouTube opened his computer. He clicked on the Internet icon and went to his channel. Playing he’s most recent video, “Dear Ryan, What Does The Fox Say?”, he scrolled down to the comments seeing a comment that changed his life forever.

Hope sat on the edge of her new couch, in her new room, in her new apartment. She finally moved out of her mother’s house. She was holding her guitar in one hand, lightly strumming a calm tune with the other. Although on the outside she seemed calm and peaceful many things raced in her mind. She worried about bills, groceries, neighbors, jobs, and many other things. “Alright”, she declared to the silence, “I’m going to go shopping first.”

Ryan sat, awestruck at the cruelness of the comment that had been liked over 100 times. It said, “Dear Ryan, I don’t know why I bother watching this, but I find it amusing.  I think it’s hilarious that a “human” like you even exists. You are the worst of the worst, with no dignity what so ever. You think you can make people laugh? Ha ha. You just did. You are absolutely disgusting and unattractive and I think that you should kill yourself as a favor to me and all. Like if you agree.” Tears began to roll down his face. He slipped on a jacket and headed out. “Ryan! Where are you going?” Greg called out. “I’m going to get some fresh air.”

Hope sighed. “Why does it have to cost so much?” She set the box of Hot Pockets back and continued on shopping for “the basics.” Like eggs, milk, bread, flour, sugar and so on. She continued on until she decided she had enough groceries. After she paid, she went to the car and drove to the park. She took out her guitar and played another peaceful song.

Ryan sighed, frustrated. He ran his hands through his hair. He did this until he heard music. He turned around and looked all around but he didn’t see anyone. He sighed, flopping onto the grass. Maybe I just need some sleep. He thought.

“-lo?” Ryan groggily sat up, dizziness took over his body. He fell back, feeling weak. “Hello? Are you okay?” He was met with a worried face. A girl about his age stood over him. She had long brown hair, curly around the bottom. She also had gray eyes. When he looked into them it seemed like gray fog clouds, hiding an unbearable truth. “Oh! Yeah, I’m fine. I guess I shouldn’t sleep on the grass so much.” She managed a light chuckle. It was a what-am-I-going-to-do-about-you chuckle instead of a what-the-heck-is-wrong-with-this-creep chuckle. “Come to the car, I think I’ve got some pain relievers.”

The trip to the car was silent. “Here” She said, handing him a water bottle and some pain relievers. “Thanks.” He said. “You should stay here and lay down for a while.” Ryan had hardly heard her but he laid down to the sound of a peaceful melody.

“Ryan. RYAN!” “W-What?” he asked. “You’ve been asleep for over a day!” “Sorry Greg, I just- Wait, how did I get home?” “Oh yeah. I called you but instead some girl answered, said you fell asleep in the park and had a headache. So, ready to shoot the first scene of the day?” he asked, imitating Ryan. “Actually Greg, I think I’m going to quit YouTube.” “What? Wait, you’re kidding right? You aren’t serious, right? Right?!” “I am Greg. I’ll delete my account, get a job and start having a true life; I’m going to stop living behind a mask.” “Well, just one last video is okay, right? One last goodbye?” Ryan nodded.

“Hey guys, so you’re probably wondering- Never mind. I wanted to talk to you all about something serious. I... I’m deleting my YouTube account. No jokes. I know what doesn’t kill you makes you stronger but to all you haters out there, you won. A part of me does die every time you say something mean or hateful. I’m sorry I let my fans down.” He began to cry. “But just know that, someone out there loves you and they will fit in your life like a perfect puzzle piece. I love all my fans. Goodbye YouTube. I had fun.” He shut of his camera and plugged it in to the computer. He uploaded it to his 3rd account, the one he never used. He deleted his first 2 accounts and shut his computer down. He went out and bought a new phone and started a new life.
