-The inside of the Joker's lamborghini was illuminated by breathtaking lights, it was beautiful. He was driving fast yet Harleen was focused in the way the colors perfectly reflected his bleached white skin, a rainbow on a blank canvas.
The lamborghini was zooming in and out of the honking cars and flashing lights, but all she can think of was his mouth against hers, her body was begging for that connection again. She giggled with her thoughts
"What's so funny?" He smiled
"Nothin' puddin"
Harleen bit her lip as she laid back on her seat, humming quietly as she watched from the corner of her eye the colorful man beside her. He had one hand on the steering wheel, the other was hanging out on the window. His smile erupted into a laughter and Harleen joined him too. This is the life she wants. Being with him.
The drive lasted for only a few minutes. Harleen didn't notice that she had been asleep, she rubbed her eyes as she asked sheepishly
"What is this place puddin?" she looked around and noticed that it seems like a factory
"The place where I came from" those words made Harleen skip a heartbeat. His eyes reflected different kinds of emotions; pain, anger, loneliness, hate
"You were born in a factory Puddin?! Are you a cyborg?!" The Joker glared at her. He stepped out of the car as Harleen followed him immediately, he took her hand and guided her to the long forgotten building. The moment they stepped inside, a pungent odor of man-made chemicals intruded her nose, but she stayed focus by feeling the electrical current from their intertwined fingers. They went up and up to the seemingly endless staircase
"This factory contains the ACE Chemicals" he said out of nowhere
"I was known before as Red Hood. Me with four other men came to this very factory to rob, and guess what's the punchline " he smiled widely and Harleen got the joke
"Batman came" she said breathlessly as he laughed; the rest was history
Harleen stayed silent, waiting for an explanation, but nothing came. She simply followed his beautiful green head, when they finally reached the top floor the Joker unlocked a door and her eyes grew impossibly wide
Far below her were countless vats of chemicals, larger and wider than anything she had seen before; It was a strange sight. Inside the giant container were bubbly and olive green colored liquid, it was beautiful yet terrifying. The stench entered her nose as it emanated from the chemicals below
"Question" his voice echoed through the vast room, Harleen turned her gaze to the person behind her, his eyes were dark and brooding
"Will you die for me?"
"Yes"
Without hesitation, I will
"That's too easy"
He backed away, looking up the ceiling while gathering his thoughts
"Would you... would you live for me?"
Dying was too easy
"Yes"
I will live for your madness, for your hate and your pain
He raised his fingers as he drew closer
"Careful, do not take this oath thoughtlessly"
The Joker cupped her face, his dark brown eyes hypnotizing her gaze as he whispered with a low, husky voice
"Desire becomes surrender, surrender becomes power"
Harleen drew her breath once he had dropped his hands, yet his index finger found her bottom lip
"You want this?"
"I do"
"Beg for it, pretty pretty pretty pretty pretty-"
"Please" her voice broke as his smile became wider
"God you're so good!"
With her back facing the vat of chemicals, she gazed at his beautiful face. Unsure if she will live or die, yet her love for this man was deep to the bones. Her life didn't matter anymore, what matters to her was him, everything about him
I choose to destroy myself for him
To live a fucked up life just to be with him
To be with his darkness
To be anything he wants me to be
With her arms outstretched, she surrendered towards the possible death, the uncertainty , the darkness
Towards him
Still facing his figure, Harleen fell backwards
It was the moment she realized the fragility of life, how foolish she was to overanalyze it all those years. She believes that she was saving him, but how did she not see that after all this time- it was her who needed to be save? Believing death was the dead end of her whole pathetic existence
Death is beautiful
The secret was how to die
She followed the society's standards, being a robot to everyone. Waking up early, going to school, getting a degree. She was endlessly obedient yet she did not realize her true potential, all this time she was trying to be normal.
Define normal
Now she understands, that we are all trapped in our self build cages, trapped in the standards of the world. Once you've freed yourself from the logic and reasoning, you are liberated and free.
Her skin felt the stinging sensation of the burning green lava as the chemicals burned her lungs. She slowly veered towards the unconsciousness when Harleen heard the faintest splash
And then suddenly, powerful hands pulled her upward.
