Traitor

Matilda walked to the middle of the little circle we formed.

"We should set up camp," She suggested as she got out a big, camo tent from her camping pack.

I was about to object but then we heard a noise.
Snap. A nearby bush rustled.

"Wait."

"No one make a move," Matilda whispered cautiously.

We were silent for what felt like hours. What made matters worse, is that I could literally do nothing. We tried making silent games. It didn't work.

Eventually, I cracked it. Everyone was being bored out of their skulls. "OKAY PEOPLE! It is now night and we don't have a tent set up, there's wolves looking for me and I'm pretty sure we're being followed! We should go somewhere else, and quickly!" I said angrily. It was good to finally unleash my anger. Although, it was too late until I blurted that last bit out. Matilda gave me a quizzical look.

"NO! Olivia, we have to stay here! It is too late to go into the forest!" Edward said matter-of-factly as he pulled out his wand which shone brightly against the dark night sky. Sadly, before Edward could use any magic Logan stepped in and put his hand firmly on Edward's, while shaking his head.

"Olivia, you said that the wolf people are looking for you. How do you know?" Matilda asked, before a fight broke out.

"Well, I guess wolves have this thing were they know if someone is in trouble and where they are at any time. I may or may not have betrayed them so now they're hunting me... Anyway, I should be home right now! My mum might have a meal down on the table for me!" My mouth watered at the thought of roast chicken. I needed to rest and then have a hot shower to mull over all of this.

My feet felt ready to sprint back home. Suddenly, I felt a hard pang in my chest. Was it almost time? I sprang forwards at the thought of it. Nope, phew, the moon hasn't reached the top of the sky.

Edward glanced around carefully before speaking, "...Did no one tell you?"

"Tell me what, exactly?" I asked, just as carefully.

"You... Can't go home until we unite monsters and humans. It's too late now for you to go back, anyway," Matilda said, looking up at the moon, and then walking over to Edward. He took a small step back into the forest.

I glanced at Logan, his head was down and he had a sad look on his face. I was overcome with homesickness already, even just thinking of the hardships to come. I backed into a tree, my knees buckling, with the rest of my body following soon after. I stuffed my face into my knees and started to see red. The tree was the only support I had while warm, fat tears rolled down my face. Matilda and Edward looked at me sympathetically. Maybe those two actually weren't that bad. My numb feet gathered the strength to stand up. I slowly put my hands on the ground and weakly jumped up.

After a bit of looking around the areas of the forest that were near us, I saw a bit of the dirt turn lighter and softer. I ran as fast as my weak legs would allow. The beach! The wolves could never smell us or find us if we were in water! They could only sense the rough location, not pinpoint the exact place!

I told the others the news. After hearing their reactions, we were ready to go.

"Well, I guess we better move down to the beach before the werewolves find us," I rasped through my sobs.
Matilda, Edward and Logan slowly got up, fatigued from the drama, and started trudging downhill, directly towards the moonlight. I could smell salt so I knew we were close.
