The room is dark, but not everything lacks light. "Well, there it is." Says Avery. I look at my hands. They glow. I chuckle. I start laughing a ton. Light?! Cruel world. Two of the most boring powers to exist. I think really hard about moving the light. Suddenly, a ball of it is in my hand. "Awesome." I manage. Brooke nods and Sarah smiles. I flick my hand and the ball of light floats slowly into the air and spins around. It takes the formation of a unicorn. "How'd you do that?" Brooke asks quietly. "No clue." I respond in a whisper. James opens the door to peek in and explain the outage, "Hey, don't freak out its just a magic storm, we will-" he cuts off when he looks up at me playing with a ball of light. "Oh... Kay... Then... I'll let the head know, and the power should be back on soon. We have our electrics working on it." He finishes, not taking an eye off my light. He shuts the door dumbfounded. I giggle as he leaves. "Alright, power will be back on soon. Until then?" Brooke asks. "Hide and seek!" Avery says. "Ha ha. You're the seeker!" I reply. Sarah asks, "Whole hall, or just dorm?" And Avery replies, "I'm bad at seeking. Just our dorm." "Good." I reply. "I don't know anywhere else." Avery leans against the corner and begins counting aloud, "one, two, fourteen..." "That isn't how you count!" I laugh. She laughs too as she continues, "twelve, thirty, pi.." I tiptoe past her and hide in her room, under her bed because I'm small enough to fit. Her room has mid-light purple walls and an orangey wood dresser with light pink sheets, and posters with dragons on them and a few unicorns, and one with a picture of an open briefcase with the word "just" in it. Funny. I realize I am still lit up. I hear Avery counting around the corner. That's twenty numbers by now, and I think she's going to thirty. I think really hard about stopping it, but I have no idea how. I suddenly see it darkened out and fading. I look at the wall to see Sarah behind the dresser. She's smiling, even though it's such a bad hiding place. Okay? I mouth 'thank you' to her for fading my light down. I close my eyes as I hear Avery say "Six!" More emphasized than the other numbers. Must be the last one. I hear her walk into this room. I focus really hard on stopping this light, and finally as I open my eyes it's gone. I hear a thunk and look up to see Avery looking behind the dresser. I hear a shuffle and see Sarah leaving the room. "Oh, that's how we're going to play. Fine." Avery says as she becomes half-transparent and picks up the dresser with her mind. She is looking at the bed and I'm thinking about what I can do. I send a ball of light to behind the door, and she walks over there. I put another behind the now crooked dresser and she looks there. I slip out the door and she hears. "Aw come on! Who was that!?" I slip into my room giggling. Brooke sees me and smiles. "I slipped past." I whisper. "She's telekinesis-ing." I add. My walls are light pink with a darker wood dresser, deep blue sheets, and a mirror on one wall. I hear Avery in the hall. "Who's in he-er?" She asks playfully as she tiptoes in. She looks at my bed, which Brooke is behind. I am half behind my suitcase, half behind my dresser. I send a ball of light to behind the door again, and look at Brooke. She nods and points to the bed. I nod too. I send a ball of light to under the bed, and Avery sees and smiles. "Now I've got you! I knew someone was here!" She walks over and looks under the bed, and I see Brooke blur out the door. Avery hears and turns around. She growls and walks out. I chuckle and send a ball of light randomly into the hallway right outside the doorway. She sees it and I watch her walk over to it. She grins. "Oh, that's the game. Good to know Mary knows how to play!" She says the second part louder. I chuckle. I push it through her face and she screeches a bit. I have to cover my mouth to stop from laughing myself dead. She hears me. I wonder if... I put my hand out in front of me, and spawn a very small ball of light behind my bed. She goes over to it to see, and I move it around the bed a bit as I tiptoe out of the room. I run into Sarah's. Her room has red walls and a dark dresser, with black sheets and a poster of a cat, one of a robot, and one of a potato on a couch. Oh, cute. I see Sarah is in here. I hide behind the door. After about ten seconds, Avery walks in. She is having fun, but angry. "Okay, how many in here?" She asks nobody. I decide to answer, and make a Roman numeral two out of light in the middle of the room. She smiles. "Okay, two then, and one is Mary." She begins by walking to the dresser. She looks at the door and I look at Sarah. She shrugs at me. I form a ball of light at the dresser, and she walks to it, but she hits the door on the way and it closes. I get over to the bed and hit one side of it. Sarah is behind a curtain, which is oddly over a mirror. I won't question it. Avery looks at the bed, and walks close to the side that I am on. I crawl under it closer to the other side, and put a ball of light there. As she looks down, I scramble fully put and run out the door. I head to Brooke's room. It has light green and light yellow swirled walls, and light gray bedsheets, with dog, a few horse and two meadow posters around the room. She has a little terrarium with a rabbit in it, and one with a turtle. She also has a fishbowl on a high shelf. I see Brooke behind her door, and I get under the bed. Sarah eventually appears in the hallway and then here, and gets behind the dresser. A full party, as Avery walks in. "We must all be here. Must!" She reaches for the door to close it and I put up a ball of light. I turn it the other way from Brooke, and she tiptoes behind Avery. I write out "yes" in light, though it's hard to do. She nods and turns back to the door. She notices that it's displaced, and growls as she shuts it. Brooke has made her way to me and is behind the bed. Avery says, "I win, then. We are done." And lifts the dresser first. Sarah was behind it and groans. "Boring." She says as Avery lifts the bed. Brooke slightly whines and I sigh. We had fun. I had no idea what we all were capable of!
