The brunette male ran home as fast as he could. He was already late because he'd been lost for so long, so he was going to have to think of a lie, and fast.

Scott told his father that he was going over to Jeremy's house to study because he asked for help. He used Jeremy because he was actually closest to him and his parents didn't know Jeremy's father. It was a pretty good cover story.

Jeremy was really the only one Scott could trust. Sure he'd gotten involved with Fritz and Mike, but he was still the same little innocent, anime-loving boy he always was. He joined for the same reason Scott had: he was being bullied, and Fritz had dirt on him. That's all it takes before you're forced into the gang.

The brunette walked into his home, where his mother and father were both waiting. He took a deep breath, preparing himself for what they were going to say.

"You're late." His mother scolded, an icy glare fixed on the brunette.

"Give him a chance to explain, dear." His father interrupted, always being the less strict one around the house.

"I'm sorry Mother, Father... Studying ran late... Jeremy had missed all last week and needed to catch up..." The brunette lied, hoping his parents would believe him.

"Then why didn't you call?" His mother snapped, almost not believing his story.

"It slipped my mind. We were too focused on the material. I'm sorry." Scott added to his lie, sounding as sincere as he could fake, which was actually quite convincing.

When your parents are lawyers and you grow up around the courthouse you learn to sound very convincing, even if you're lying through your teeth. But lying to his parents was never easy.

"Fine, up to your room." His mother snapped, pointing to the staircase.

Scott sprint up the stairs quickly before his mother had the chance to scold him any further. His mother had a tendency to take things too far and that was something the brunette didn't want to hear right now. He just wanted to relax for a bit, so that's exactly what he did.

Scott dropped onto his bed, not even bothering to take off his red Converse sneakers. He was simply too tired and didn't care enough at the moment.

The brunette was missing his serpent companion and wished he could see him more often. He wished he didn't have to lie to his parents to be able to see his closest friend.

If only there was a way for Vincent to become human, then everything could be better. Scott and Vincent could be closer and everything might have a chance to he okay. How Scott wished for the Naga to have the ability to be human. He wasn't considering it selfish exactly, but he was thinking about how they could be together if Vincent changed, even if it was wrong to think this way. He cringed at the thought.

"Stop lying to yourself... You don't want Vincent to change... You just want him... You only want him..." The brunette whispered softly, trailing off at the end.
