When it comes to issuing commercial paper,
high-performing merchants have deeper pockets
privileged access to more liquid assets
steeper Delta in net operating income after-taxes
arising from new, fresh capital injections.
While competition is toying with USD millions,
the Wall Street darlings, self-proclaimed Masters of the Universe,
move the needle to noticeable degrees with USD billions
independent of the marginal propensity to spend or save
and the arrogance of supervisory investment committees
they leverage on unstoppable economies of scale
"r > g" where "r" is the rate of return on capital
and "g" is the rate of growth in the macroeconomy.
The average bystander might postulate what on earth
incomprehensible banking jargon has to do
with the continued issuance of haiku's, sonnets, limericks
eloquent paper at large, by poets laudable from Homer,
Virgil, Donne, Burns to Angelou, Marlow and Sydney
just to name a few?
While traders need money to augment shareholder's value
and do their business in executive floors of Manhattan
skyscrapers or fancy country clubs (Members Only),
poets always nervously count their money
before putting hard cash in their wallet
most poets are very short of money indeed,
but this never prevented gracious creation of timeless value.
Contradicting affluent financiers, non-pecuniary poets
use the inexpensive multiplier of simple pen and paper.
performing celestial music without the Steinway grand piano
wild imagination, breadth and depth of real-life experience
and a heart overflowing of sincere emotions will do the trick.
While joyfully engaging in every day word smithing
poets express true feelings of their own accord, amazing Grace,
yielding in relatively inexpensive, yet simply elegant poems
some unlike merchandising, unlikely to ever go out of style.
