Chapter Seven
No Silver Linings

Lily's POV

The familiar city lights outside the window were mainly a blur and the bumps on the road made my head hurt so much more than it already was. I found myself sitting in the passenger seat of Lucas's car yet again and I had no clue as to what has happened. Louis is being an asshole and tried to minimize the talking between us so it's not like I can get anything out of him.

"Here drink these." Louis stated plainly. He handed me four water bottles. I didn't really understand why he wanted me to drink water until I took notice of the raw smell of alcoholic beverage my clothes consumed.

"I smell horrible." I stated to myself.

"Yes you do." Louis pinched his nose in agreement.

I took notice of the time and realized it was 12:13 A.M.

Great.

I know that if I manage to sneak inside my house maybe they'll let it slide. I don't want to hear their nonsense of how irresponsible it is to be home late and all that good stuff. As I was thinking about my parents Beverly came to mind. I've been such an asshole myself. I've been ignoring her when all she tried to do was reason with me. If Beverly and I were a couple, we would be that so called "odd" couple. The couple that consists of one being the innocent one and the other living life in the fast lane.

"We have arrived to your preferred destination Miss Carter." Louis stated with a hint of sarcasm. He got out the car and opened the door for me.

"Well I must say I didn't expect that. So I'm assuming you're going to help me avoid my parents?" I smirked.

"Hell yeah. I'm not about to have your parents on my ass Lily."

Louis and I made our way to the side of my house with caution. There was an old tree planted near my room and I was thankful it's branches were extended right next to my balcony. I hesitated on climbing at first but then I remembered the wise words Harry told me. I planted a foot on the lowest branch and managed to not fall. I continued climbing but I missed a branch on my way up. I felt strong arms supporting my back.

"I got you Lily." Louis said. I didn't even know he was right behind me.

"Thank you Louis." I gasped. He continued helping me until I was safe on my balcony. I expected Louis to be a bit harsh and not help me but I guess I was wrong.

"Goodnight.. well good morning Lily." Louis said as he was still on the tree.

"You too Louis." I replied back. I leaned a bit over my balcony and gave him a quick kiss on his warm cheek. I was able to tell that he was a bit flabbergasted from my gesture. I was a bit flabbergasted myself to be honest. I wasn't thinking straight right now.

"I must be on my way, bye Lily."

"Bye Louis." I saw as he climbed down the tree and made his way towards Lucas's car. I was so exhausted to even try to remember the entire night. I walked towards my bed and lied down, not caring that I was still wearing my intoxicated clothing.

Louis's POV

After dropping off Lily I drove to Lucas's place. He was getting high like there was no tomorrow. I was worried that he was going to loose his mind.

"Wh-where's Lily?" Lucas stuttered as he managed to put his arm around my neck.

"I already told you Lucas. She's at her house." I replied. He's asked me the same fucking question ever since I got here.

"Where's Zayn?" he asked.

"I don't fucking know." I spat.

"He ruined everything Louis. It's your fault too. I told you not to fucking tell Lily about him." Lucas said. His tone of voice hinted sadness and a bit of anger.

"I know but I didn't think anything of it." I felt sorry for the kid but he was right, Zayn has ruined everything and he's going to pay sooner or later. Knowing Lucas he'll get him right where he wants him when he'll least expect it.

"I tried to change Louis, you know that." Lucas stated. I nodded my head in agreement.

Lily is just a mere object to some but to others she was more than that. Especially to Lucas.

Lucas's POV

This week hasn't been the greatest for me. It's been shit for me especially last night. Louis came over making sure I was alright.

"Louis thanks for always being there for me mate." I said. I was grateful enough to have at least one person care about me. I've never felt love before. My mum died when I was just an infant and my father wasn't the best caregiver although I knew he always tried his best to give me whatever I needed.

"No problem man, I know that if I was in the same situation you would be there for me." he replied.

I couldn't help but smile. "Liam is back in town you know." I said.

I've missed Liam. He left during junior year but said he would be back for the remainder of senior year. I was happy it would be the three of us again being the main ones. It was always Louis, Liam, and I together running shit like we owned it.

"Yeah so I've heard. So about Lily.."

"Louis."

"Look man, you're going to have to do something about it sooner or later." he replied.

"If Lily wants to mess around with fucking Zayn then let her. She'll regret it Louis. Just wait and see."

Louis had no idea what I was talking about but Lily is fucking blind right now. Ever heard of selective hearing? Well in Lily's case she doesn't have that. She has selective vision. She's not seeing the big picture everyone else sees. But one things for sure, I'll make Lily regret ever meeting him. Zayn has no idea what's fucking coming.
