I jolt up, "Nathan!" My hands to go my head in surprise. I look at the tube hanging from his nose and the scary heart monitor for a reality check. I glue my eyes to his O2 along with his TPR, its slow and steady just like a low tide in the ocean.

"Hey, Raisin Bran." Nathans voice is croaky from the tube that was giving him oxygen. His dark eye lashes flutter open. I can tell that hes trying to register what happen. The once bright eyes look at me, fogged with confusion. "Where did you go?"

"Can I just show you where I went?" Without waiting for him to answer, I unlock the wheels on his bed and roll it to the main office. He keeps telling me that I know  we cant leave the hospital but I nod my head to tell him I know. Nathan shuts up when he see that decorations plasterer on the walls. The team did such a great job. The drapes are black with gold streaks, Glitter is reflected off the twinkling white lights that are pinned to the ceiling. Slow music is playing while a big chandelier  lights up the office, now the dance floor. Tim is dancing with Emily, Brice with Maddie, a ten year old girl that lost her arm in a fight with a helicopter, Dillon with Joy. Before I freak out, I put all my problems aside for tonight and invited everyone. Theirs over 110 people. I did some stocking and found Nathans old football buddies. They we're joyful when I invited them. I lock the wheels. I grab the two mask I picked out for us then gave them to Nathan.

"Surprise." I whisper in his ear. His hand touches the half face mask that is black  with gold eyebrow on it. Before I let go if the mask all the way, Nathan grabs my hand. I gasp at the feeling. Its fire and ice meting at the same time.

"Thank you Brandy." His pearly whites show. I made him feel. That was my job, to make him feel something that would last forever. I smile back. I mouth a 'your welcome.' to him. I lean down and kiss his cheeks. Its just a quick peak before he grabs my face and kisses me on the lips. The kiss isn't rushed, it feels peaceful and calm.

"Kids, don't look!" Nathan and I break off the kiss while smiling and giggling.

"Really?" I ask Tim. Hes wearing a black and white tux with a white bow tie. His hair is sleeked back and neatly styled. A sliver mask with a black rim on it covers his tan toned face.

"No kissing on my watch." Tim takes short strides to get to Nathan.  They do a little handshake the start talking. I tell them that I'll be right back. Tim came right on time, I run to the workroom so I can change. I practicably rip my clothes to get them off of my body. Next I step into my white dress. It has a sweetheart neckline, very full of tool at the bottom. The gold glitter starts at the bottom then  slowly crawls up. I replace my granny shoes with some peach color flats that have lace on the heel and toe. I swiftly top off my outfit with my silver mask, its decorated with blue eyeliner with a touch of white pretty doodles. "Time to shine." I see Nathan is now sitting on couch talking to one of his football friends.

"Can this girl at least get a wow?" My hands hold each other and rest below my belly. Nathans gasp takes all the oxygen in the world.

"I have no words for how lovely you look right now. I really want you to know that it dosent matter if your hair is curled, make up is on your face, you're wearing a dress or baggy clothes, those shoes that hurt your feet, the flat ones or your hair is all messy, I love all of it. Every single piece." My heart swells up and for the first time, its a good thing. His friend moves so I take his spot. A few songs pass before we resume talking. "Why?" Its a soft mumble. I know it wasn't meant for my ears, only his mind. My eyes stumble across his. Theirs a small weep coming out of his mouth.

"Why, what?"

He inhales then explains, "Why..Why does it have to end like this? Why cant we lay in the grass or play in the snow till our hair is gray and our fingers are blue?" Nathans nose becomes red.Little droplets roll down his face, leaving tear tracks on his cheek. I feel them on my face, getting smashed into my plastic mask..

"Can we just not morn for two minutes and dance?" ****My voice sounds heartless but my eyes are tired from crying. He nods his head. Due to the weak bones, I have to hold him up. Carefully dancing to the music I rest my head on Nathans shoulder. *** Our feet make a box on the floor. Our bodies are glued together.

"I know why." Nathan stops dancing to listen to what I'm saying. "It because this story dosent end like that."

Did you cry?
