(Kylie)

"Mom! I'm home!" I yelled as I walked in the front doors. I hung my keys on the wall and took off my bag and kept it in front of the stairs. Weirdly, no one replied. That was rather unusual because mom was always at home during this time of the day.

"Mom?" I yelled out again. "MOTHER!" I yelled harder getting a little frantic about the situation. Our front door had glass panes attached to either side of it, so I went to look if mom's car was there in the driveway. And it was.

My heart started beating wildly in my chest. What if someone had broken into our house? What if mom had fallen sick? Was mom okay?

I walked up the stairs to see if she was in her room. I knocked on her door and...... Nothing. I opened the door and walked into her ginormous bedroom. Empty. The sheets were neatly tucked into the bed and everything was in place. Where was she?

I started to dial her number when I felt two very strong arms wrap around me from behind. I screamed and tried leaping out of them but to no avail. "LET ME GO! I'M GONNA KILL YOU IF YOU HURT MY MOTHER! LET ME GO YOU MURDERER!" I started yelling in panic as I felt tears beginning to prickle my eyes. Oh surely something horrendous happened to my mother. Please God please let her be safe.

"You're still so very dramatic." I heard a familiar voice say as the unknown entity chuckled. It took me a couple of seconds to realise who it was before I started screaming again.

"Nathan! You A-hole! Let me go, NOW!" I said, although I started to feel a smile tugging at my lips.

He let me go and I turned around. That's when I saw my parents and my elder sister walk in the room, with laughter tears in their eyes as they kept laughing their hearts out.

I started hitting Nathan, "You. Absolute. Idiot! Do. You. Have. ANY. Idea. How. Worried. I. Was?" I said through gritted teeth and slapped him anywhere I could as I spoke each word. Then I turned furiously at my mother, "One day when I play the same trick on you, you'll know how terrifying it is to think that one of your family members is missing/ kidnapped/ murdered." I saw the laughter wipe out from her face and get replaced by a look of worry.

"Oh c'mon Kylie! It was all good fun!" My sister said between her laughs. I glared at her as I felt Nathan rest his elbow on my shoulder, I shrugged it off and walked out the door without looking at him. I knew looking at him would cause me to forgive him.

I walked into my room and banged the door shut. I flinched at how loudly it actually shut, that's not how hard I was expecting it to hit. At least I got my dramatic exit.

I started smiling at the thought of my best friend being back. He was finally here and I couldn't have been happier.

He was a year and a half older to me, but none the less my best friend. We had been neighbours ever since I was born and besides my sister, he was my first friend ever. He'd moved out last year for his under-grad and we were supposed to spend our summer together, but he had summer internship to take care of and so he couldn't make it here. I couldn't believe he was finally here. My mom was safe and my best friend was home? What a great day to be alive!
