Callie's POV
I make my way through the halls of anchor beach, stop in front of my locker and angrily start turning the dial on the lock. Of course I turn it just a little bit too far it won't open. "Damn it!" I mumble as I kick it somehow thinking it would magically open up.
"Everything alright?" I hear someone laugh behind me. I turn around and see Brandon walking towards me. He has a stupid grin on his face as he watches what a mess I am at the moment. I sigh and begin entering my combination once again.
"Everything is just great." I say sarcastically. I can feel his eyes studying my face trying to figure out what is bothering me.
"What is going on, Callie?" I grab my books and slam my locker door shut before turning to face my puzzled boyfriend.
I force a smile "I'm fine. You should probably go. I'll see you later?"
He knows I'm not going to say what is bothering me in the middle of the school hallway, and that I was right. He needed to leave now before anyone saw us together. So he just nods. "Do you want to meet in the music room for lunch?" He asks.
I smile at the thought. "Of course" and with that I turn down the hall and make my way towards my next class. My cell phone vibrates in my back pocket and I grab it to see I have a text from Brandon. I type in my password, and the message 'I love you' pops up on my phone screen.
I quickly reply 'I love you too'. I blush thinking about how sweet he is, and about how he is finally all mine.
As soon as I realize that there are only two more classes until lunch and I get to be with him I start to forget about why I was so upset only moments ago.---
As the bell rings for lunch I practically throw my English book in my backpack and book it out of the classroom. As I close the door to the music room behind me, I see Brandon at his usual spot in front of the piano playing away. Since he didn't seem to hear me come in I run up behind him and fling my arms around him while planting a quick kiss on his cheek.
Brandon jumped a little bit at first but soon greeted me with a giant grin as he grabbed my waist pulling me in for a kiss. "Hi." He whispered against my lips.
"Hi." I repeat back to him before once again closing the gap between our lips. As soon as we are connected again, he chuckles causing me to pull away and give him a confused look. "What's so funny?" I laugh."Nothing, it's just that you're definitely in a better mood than you were earlier earlier." He raises an eyebrow at me.
I roll my eyes at the thought of how grumpy I was earlier, and take a seat on the piano bench next to him. "Yeah... Sorry about that."
"You don't have to apologize." He says sweetly as his hand moves to my knee. A smile creeps across my face and I rest my head on Brandon's shoulder next to me. "What was wrong anyway?"
"I had a test 1st period that I completely failed." I state very matter of factly.
"I'm sure you didn't do as bad as you think."
"Brandon. I didn't even finish it. I still had like almost a page and a half left when the bell rang, so I just marked down random answers. I'm pretty sure I failed!" I whine.
I can tell Brandon isn't sure what to say now and I feel bad for creating an awkward tension."I mean there will be others. Just because you got a bad grade on one test doesn't mean you can't still get a good overall grade."
"Yeah, I know. I'm over stressing about it at this point. I might ask my teacher for a retake or do some extra credit. I don't know... It's not the end of the world." I shrug. "Enough about me. How has your day been?"
"Um, alright. I was actually just working on a new piece I started writing last night."
My face lights up when he mentions piano because I love hearing him play. "Can I hear it?" I ask excitedly, sounding like a child on Christmas morning waiting to open presents.
He chuckles at my sudden eagerness and shakes his head."No? Why not?!"
"Because it's not done yet! I don't want you to hear it until it is."
"Please. Please. Please. Pretty please?" I pout. He continues to shake his head. "Pretty please with a cherry on top?" I smile. Brandon looks at me with a smirk but still says nothing. "Brandon! Come on!"
"You are relentless. You know that?" He laughs as he kisses my temple.
"So is that a yes? Am I actually going to get to hear Brandon Foster's newest masterpiece?"
He rolls his eyes at the word 'masterpiece'. "I definitely wouldn't call it that. It's still pretty rough, so don't be too harsh... And remember you are the one that wanted me to play it!" He mumbles as he pokes my side.
"I'm sure it's great, just like everything else you write. Just play it."
I slide off of the bench we were sharing so that he has room and sit criss cross on a desk next to the piano.
As Brandon plays my eyes drift back and forth between his hands grazing delecately over the keys and his face which is focusing so hard on what he is doing. The melody takes me away and I am disappointed when the music stops.
I smile and stare at him, still in a trance. "What do think? Do you like it? I know the beginning still needs some work and I haven't qui-" he starts nervously babbling.
"Brandon!" I cut him off.
"Yeah?"
"You are actually like a musical genius! The song is great. I love it! And I love you." I walk back over to him and kiss the back of his neck before resting my chin on his shoulder and wrapping my arms around his chest. He takes my hand in his and gently guides me around to the front of him.
I take a seat back on the bench next to Brandon and his lips are almost immediately on mine. I deepen the kiss as I run my fingers through his messy locks of hair.
The rest of lunch goes by rather quickly and when the bell rings I groan at the thought of having to leave and go to an actual class.
I wait a minute after Brandon leaves before I exit the room so that nobody will see us leaving together.
As I turn the corner, I almost run into Lena and a sense of guilt rushes through me. She would be so disappointed if she knew wha was going on, and I hate that.
