I walk through the doors of Sir Wilfred Lauier high school for the first time ever and aww in amazment. Girls and boys rush around the general commons area meeting up with friends and searching for their homerooms. I see many unfamiliar faces, most of which, are older, but I don't let that frighten me. I am determined to make my high school years the best years of my life!

Shoulders back, chin up, stomach in. My mothers voice spins through my head with all the reminders she always tells me on the first day of school. Stand up tall, walk confident, dont be shy. It's like she thinks I'm and outcast or something. Well, to be fair, I am not an outcast and she knows it. I have my group of seven or so close friends that I met in middle school and we are all excited to be starting high school together. I don't want to be tied in with the same girls for four years, though. What I really want to do is meet as many people as I can. Anyone who knows me knows I am not a shy person and meeting new people is what I do best.

I take a deep breath and enter the hectic crowd of people. Older kids rush, bump, and push around me. I briefly see a strand of bleach blond hair but there is no mistaking it is her.

"Britt!!!" I yell and rush over to where she is.

"Mira!" Britt calls out when she sees me, "Girl, how are you? We haven't talked in like forever!"

"I saw you last week." I tell her giving her a look.

"Haha, yeah you did." Britt replies smiling. She raises her voice slightly so I can hear her better. "So, where is your homeroom?" She asks

" Umm, I'm not sure yet, I haven't checked."

"Well, what are you waiting for?" She asks guiding me to the grade 9 lists in the back corner. I hunch over the table and searched for my name.

"I'm in room 318" I scream to Britt behind me.

"Oh my gosh! Me too!" She yells and we both eek in excitment. "C'mon lets go find it!" Britt says pulling me away from the freshman lists and bringing me up the stairs. We bounce up to the third floor to search for our new homeroom class.

"So, have you seen anyone else yet?" I ask Britt in the much quieter stair way.

"No, but we can find them at lunch."

"Yeah, you are right. You better snag the locker beside mine this year!"

"For sure! We have got to get our lockers close to each other!"

Britt and I make it to the third floor and pull open the heavy, double doors.

"Where do we start?" Britt asks intimidated, looking down the unfamiliar hallways.

"Doesn't matter I guess. There's no such thing as getting lost, just finding new places."

"Wow, deep." she smirks and I bumped her into a locker.

"C'mon let's get started." I say grabbing her hand and pulling her to the middle of the hallway. We turn right and scan the door numbers until we found our new home. I have a good feeling about this. If everything goes as planned high school will be the best years ever!
