Chapter 9
I woke to the sound of giggling and a strange feeling on my face. Still slightly groggy I started to move around and try to wake myself up. More giggling continued and I wondered what was so funny. I reached up to my face to feel fluffy stuff all over my cheeks, chin, and nose.
I cracked opened my eyes, “Wha…?”
I saw Ashley leaning over me and Courtney behind her, both of their faces red from containing in laughter. They saw that I had smeared whatever was on my face, which caused them to burst out laughing.
Sitting up I put both hands to my face and felt that it was really fluffy and creamy and had to probably be whipped cream.
Michael was sitting on the cedar chest and was already changed into jeans and a green tshirt. Courtney and Ashley were still in their pajamas, but Ashley held a feather while Courtney had a can of, yes, whipped cream.
I got up and went to my dresser. Looking in the mirror my whole face was smeared in it. Looking at the reflection of my friends behind me I saw them laughing still. I turned around, licked my hand, and said, “This is a nice breakfast. Wish it came with some chocolate too.”
Ashley started laughing even harder. I walked up to her, “You think it’s that funny?”
I gathered some whipped cream off my face in my palm and smeared it on Ashley’s face. Her eyes went wide in shock and she squealed. I looked at Courtney but she held up her hands, “Hey, I’m innocent!”
I scoffed, “Yeah, coming from the one holding the can of whipped cream!” I proceeded to do the same to her that I did to Ashley. I started to leave for the bathroom so I could was all of it off but turned around before I left the room.
Glancing at Michael he was smiling, saw me looking at him, then held up his hands, “I had nothing to do with this!”
I went, “Mmhm,” then left to wash it off, while Courtney and Ashley followed suit.
After getting washed, changed, and ready for the day we went back to the bedroom to decide what we were doing for the day.
Courtney sat on the floor and started putting on her white socks, “Is it still raining?”
I opened the blinds for all of us to see pitch dark clouds across the sky with rain pouring down so we couldn’t see across the street. A flash of lightning went across the sky, followed by a huge roar of thunder that seemed to fill the whole house.
I heard Michael say, “Guess that answers your question.”
Turning around I sank to the floor when Ashley spoke, “So now what?”
Courtney turned to her, “Is that the question of the lifetime now?”
Ashley sniffed, “Maybe. I want to know.”
I thought a second, “Well, I know we’re going to Target later. But as for other plans I’m not sure.”
A head popped through the bedroom doorway, “How bout hide n’ seek?”
Aaron walked into the room, followed by Josh and Jen. They were all already dressed for the day, the boys both wearing a red t-shirt and blue jeans while Jenn wore a blue t-shirt and jeans.
