*eight years later*

Interviewer: "today we have the Maze Runner cast as guest, give them a welcoming applause!"

The audience clapped and shouted, waiting for the cast to come on stage.

Ki Hong Lee was the first one to sit down, snapchatting everything.
Next to come up was Dylan, even though his hands were shaking, he looked really confident. He sat down next to Ki Hong, and waved at the audience and camera's.
Thomas walked in too, sitting down next to Dylan, not looking at him as he settled himself.
Kaya Scodelario, Chris Sheffield and Jacob Latimore sat down as well.

"Thank you all for coming today" the interviewer began.
"Thank you for inviting us" Dylan said into the microphone, looking at the audience.

The audience shouted and laughed.
Dylan smiled.

"Okay, first of all I want to talk about the chemistery that some of the characters might have"
Kaya brought the microphone up to her mouth and spoke "I don't think Thomas and Teresa are in love, they spend too much time trying to figure out why they are in the maze and-"
The interviewer, named Marc, laughed.
"I was acually talking about Newt and Thomas" he interrupted.
Dylan raised his eyebrows, Thomas too got a frown on his face.
"Yes, the fangirls have been dying to know. Most of your fans read on the internet about you two being friends, before the Maze Runner was made into a movie"
Thomas was now blushing.
"Yea, we were friends. We were very close acually." Dylan said as a wave of sadness hit him, but he managed to smile anyway.
A deep "Aww" spread through the audience.
"We got another question from a fan. The fans were really disappointed about this; Thomas this one is for you, 'why didn't your character, Newt, call Thomas "Tommy" as much as in the book?'" Marc asked.

Dylan turned a bright shade of red.
"I can't really tell much about that. But what I can tell is that something happened, in the past, and I'm not quite over that" Thomas said, clearly ashamed and also a little mad.

"Oh, does it have to do something with an ex-lover?" After that question the audience began to whisper, you could hear rumors spread through the room.
"Yes." Thomas simply answered. He sighed and took a sip of his glass of water.

The rest of the interview was a blur for both of the boys.
They answered a lot of questions and were very tired when it was all over.

Afterwards Ki Hong Lee came up to both of the boys.
"Aw, guys you two were blushing so hard, look"
And Ki Hong showed them a video which he made during the interview.
The question that they were blushing about was, "do you ship Newtmas"
Which Dylan had answered with, "do I shit what?"
But when they explained to him what shipping meant, he said yes.
Not because he thought Newtmas would be a cute couple. But he said yes because he was still madly in love with Thomas. It didn't matter what kind of character Thomas played, Dylan would always love him. No matter what. And nobody would ever know, except Thomas.

Ki Hong Lee walked away and the two boys were alone now.
Nobody who was watching them.
Just the two of them backstage.

It was silent for a while but then Dylan said,

"I still love you... Tommy. I always will."

And Thomas responded with,

"I know Dyl. I know."

Dylan sighed.

"Why is this world such a cruel place?"

Thomas grabbed Dylan's hand,

"Because we must feel pain to understand love"
