Yui joins the Scouts

YUI'S P.O.V :

It was a gloomy Sunday morning in Trost District.  I just woke up and I was tired as hell. I went to bed late. I have to admit it was my bad.

Anyways, today is the day I have been longing for, ever since I joined the 104th trainee squad. It was the day I was going to join the survey corps. I was ranked in the top 10 and I was in 4th place. I could join the Military police but what good would that do for humanity?

Besides, all of my friends were joining too. Eren, Mikasa, and Armin, my three best friends, were joining. We were hoping to end up in the same squad, although we knew it was unlikely. I got up from my bed and looked out the window and saw Wall Rose. I was eager to put on my 3DMG gear and go kill the bastards outside of these walls.

God how I hate the Titans, yet I was somewhat are fascinated by them too. I shared the same opinion of them with Eren. Eren, Armin and we all wanted the same thing: To escape these walls. Armin told me about what's called an ocean, he said it's loaded with salt. I couldn't even fathom such a thing.

I forced myself to get off my bed. I was basically dragging my body across the floor. I took a quick shower, brushed my teeth and put on my uniform. The only thing that was missing... was the wings of freedom cape.

Mikasa and I shared a cabin. As I came out of the bathroom I looked to my side and saw Miksasa sleeping. She was so peaceful and calm. She had the face of an innocent child. She told me about her dark past when we first met, I was nearly flushed with tears.

I let her sleep in unlike usual, knowing how hard she fought. I let her rest.

I leaped outside and felt the cold breeze on my blonde hair. I walked down the field to see Armin and Eren throwing rocks and sticks and Jean. How typical...It was immature of me, but I chuckled a bit.

"Hi Yui!" Armin called.

"Oh hi Armin good morning!" I smiled at him and gave him a hug. Eren then turned around.

" MORING YUI!" Eren rushed up to me and hugged me tightly.

A pale streak of pink appeared on my cheeks. I admit I liked Eren for a while. I knew that Miksasa would be furious with me, so I guess I just kept it inside. He pretty much friend zoned me too.

"Sup Eren!" I shouted.

" So are you ready to join the scouts?" He questioned.

"Yes I'm sure of it. I want to get rid of those pitiful creatures even if it means I have to risk my life!" I shouted with my fist pointing to the sky.

" Jeez, Yui, you and Eren and like twins I swear." Armin added. We all laughed in unison.

I saw Jean from the distance coming towards us with a dark aura around him.

"I'LL GET YOU BACK FOR THIS YOU DICKS" I heard Jean yell at the two mischevious boys.

We ran back towards my cabin and saw Mikasa outside. She looked worried "Hey guys!" Mikasa yelled. We eventually came to the cabin panting.

" Morning sleepy head." Armin joked. Mikasa laughed.

" Eren are you a hundred percent sure you want to join the scouts.....Its dangerous" Her hair covered her face and her voice went from loud to quiet slowly.

" Yes, I told you I'm not a little kid, stop treating me like one." Eren said annoyed. We all felt the tension growing.

One by one all the cadets started to come out of their cabins to hear each commander say they're speech and pick a regiment. I saw Connie and Sasha shivering together as they walked out. I caught a quick glimpse of Annie as well, who looked like she didn't have a care in the world. Who knows I could be wrong.

"ATTENTION." All the cadets simultaneously turn around and see the brave and strong Commander Erwin standing on the edge of Wall rose between Nile and Pixis.

" Cadets! We will be arriving to your cabins shortly. Ensure that you have your cadet ID and number on you. Also have a list in order of which regiments you would like to be in." Erwin commanded.

The four of us suddenly started to see all the cadets pouring out of their cabins. Some were shivering with fear, or the opposite, standing tall with confidence. Then there was the unusual ones like Annie, who wouldn't didn't have any emotions. But deep down we all cared at this moment whether, we were afraid to show it or not. All cadets started to march down the dirt field and ended up at the stage. We were anxiously waiting for the commanders.

Roughly in about ten I witnessed the minutes I see the three commanders. Pixis was the first one to speak of course. Even when he was making his speech, he still had a flask of whisky in his hand. I didn't really give a crap though, the Garrison regiment is boring. He talked about protecting society by reinforcing the walls. I started to yawn. Finally, he asked who would like join. About only a handful of the cadets went. Next up was Nile. He puffed out his chest and nostrils. Damn, he's so cocky it kills me. His speech was all lies. Talking about protecting the citizens , enforcing laws, and firearm training. In my opinion, the military police are only good for drinking and gambling. It's so corrupt, and it's not like the other regiments can stand up against them. The government is obviously always in favour of the military police. Eren suddenly nudged my shoulder. " Yui, I heard horseface might be joining the military police."

" I doubt it, knowing the huge crush he has on Mikasa, I think he'll join the scouts just to be near her." I told him.

" Too true Yu, too true. " Eren responded.

I saw Annie as predicted go, and a few other cadets followed.

After those two wasteful speeches. I saw the tall and confident Commander Erwin Smith, of the Survey corps walk on stage. He clenched his left fist and brought it to his chest making a salute. The rest of us did the same to show respect and honour. " Hello Cadets I am Commander Erwin Smith. The head of the Survey corps. Our military's is mostly active in titan combat, human expansion and outside exploration. Each one of you that joins needs to acknowledge that you will be risking your life daily. "  He started.

His speech went on for another ten minutes. He was rambling on about the duties of the scouts, and how to rank up. I wanted to become a Corporal. " So, which one of you is willing to sacrifice your life to let humanity take a leap? Follow me to HQ if you've made you made your  decision." He left us with that, and walked off stage.
