A little cheesy and short, but I am currently dying from a cold and wanted to express that whilst celebrating Scott's birth!

-

Scott thinks his sinuses might be trying to destroy him.

His whole head is throbbing as he attempts to breathe through one nostril. He thinks it's preposterous - he was born with two for a reason, this is surely not a one-nostril job.

His throat is burning slightly, stinging as each cold breath he is forced to take passes over the sensitive area. He wishes he could just breathe.

He almost groans as he rolls over. His neck feels stiff and the sides of his face are tender, as if any additional pressure to them will cause his head to burst. Scott wants to bury himself in the covers but he feels so warm (and simultaneously cold).

There's a light tap on his door and he wants to tell the knocker to come in but his throat decides for him.

"Hey Scott," he hears Mitch's melodic voice. "It's your birthday!"

Scott wants to roll his eyes but realizes that they feel extra heavy right now and thinks they should just remain closed. He's pretty sure they'll fall out of his head if he exposes them to the little bit of light in his bedroom.

"What's wrong?" Mitch asks when he receives no response. It's unlike Scott, normally so excited to be adding another year to his age.

"Sick," Scott mumbles. It takes every ounce of energy he has, "feel gross."

Mitch frowns, "oh, that's no way to spend your birthday." He leaves then and Scott almost dozes off when he hears his door creak open again. "I made you some soup. I know it's a little early in the day but it should help."

Scott groans as he sits up, turning to face the soup which looks appetizing. He feels bad that he isn't very hungry but eats a spoonful anyway. "Thank you, Mitch."

"Anything for the birthday boy."

Scott smiles, his eyes begging him to just close them already but he wants to look at the beauty in front of him. "I love you."

"I love you, too."
