It's your birthday in a few hours (i wanted to post this early)!!! so I wrote this for you (: it's the longest chapter I have EVER written and it feels insane! I'm sorry if parts don't make sense / the end is wonky, I wasn't sure how to end it or where I was going with it.

"it's my younger siblings wedding and my mother won't shut up about how i'm going to die alone" prompt from tumblr that I tweaked a bit! I hope you like this!

"Fuck," he mumbles. He hadn't realized it was already so late in the year. He thought he had more time.

"What?" Mitch asks, peering over his shoulder. He was walking to the fridge to grab a water when he heard Scott swear. "Is something wrong?"

He bites his lip, debating if he really should tell Mitch or not. It's a bit embarrassing, really, and he isn't sure if he feels comfortable enough to share his dilemma with his roommate. "It's nothing."

"It didn't sound like it was nothing," Mitch says, quirking a brow. He questions whether or not he wants to push for the truth as he unscrews the cap. "Want to tell me what's really wrong now?"

Scott sighs, "my cousin's wedding."

"Do you not like your cousin?"

"No, that's not the problem. The problem is that I said I RSVPed with a plus one because my parents will be there and they think I'm never going to find someone and I wanted to prove them wrong."

"Oh," Mitch nods, sipping his water.

"I don't have a date." He whispers, his hand coming up to card through his hair. "I'm going to look pathetic."

"That sucks."

Scott rubs his hand over his face. He hopes it'll help him look less lost and exhausted but knows it probably just reinforces those emotions. "I don't know what I'm gonna do. I can't go alone," he fades off, staring at the invitation on the countertop, it's mocking him. "Unless," he starts, his head snapping up to look at Mitch who hasn't left his side.

"What?" He asks, "why are you starting at me?"

"What if you went with me?"

"Excuse me?"

"Please? Just pretend to be my boyfriend? Only for one night - please?" He begs, "just to get my parents off my back? Will you?"

"Scott-"

"Mitch, please? I'll do anything."

Mitch can't believe he actually let Scott convince him to go to this wedding with him. He has no idea who anyone is, which he is only a little thankful for. At least, if this all turns out shit, nobody will remember him.

He hasn't met Scott's parents yet and he's never really felt this nervous before. He knows it doesn't matter if he makes a great impression or not, considering this is all fake, but he wants them to like him, feels he owes it to Scott to at least be a good fake boyfriend.

"Scott!" He hears a feminine voice call out and he turns his head to see masses of blonde hair. "How's my boy?" Mitch assumes the aged women is Scott's mother and stands awkwardly to the side as they embrace. There's a man behind her that he assumes is his father.

"I'm great, mom. Hi dad," he says, hugging him tightly. Mitch smiles at the exchange, it's obvious Scott values his family, but he isn't sure what to do, playing with his shirt sleeve as he watches them reunite. He assumes Scott will introduce him.
