Turning on the spot, sight and sound were extinguished as darkness pressed in upon her, as she was squeezed through space and time, away from The Burrow, away from the descending Death Eaters, and away from her father. She wanted to go back but that would only make things worse. She hated Disaparation.

The night air was cold, cold enough that she could see her breath before her. Except, where she just was, it was summer so how could where she be, be cold. She walked around and familiarised herself with her surroundings. She was clearly in a forest or wood, the trees were close together but you could still see the starry night sky overhead. A crescent moon shone above her and bathed the forest floor in its light. Where did she go?

She walked towards a tree, and felt as though she was walking a familiar path, upon careful inspection this tree, this old oak, had long claw marks on it, as though some beast used it as a scratching post. Perhaps she was in the Forbidden Forest. No, it would've smelt familiar and something about those claw marks forced her to walk onwards. She didn't know entirely where she was going, it was as though some invisible figure was leading her through the forest. She found herself in a clearing and she was enveloped by the smell of mint.

Looking down she saw a bush of mint leaves, and some black furs with red tips sat within them. It seemed a small animal had landed there, the imprint of their body still shaping the way the mint leaves grew. Kneeling down she smelt the patch of leaves and the fur. Aside from the scent of mint, the fur had a smokey smell to it, and it was also her own.

It was her fur, meaning that she had been here before, except that was a long time ago. A distant memory. She knew where she could walk now, and why this forest was familiar, this was her home. Before He Who Must Not Be Named, before Hagrid, before Hogwarts and before Remus. Remus. Her father figure, he was her last thought before she Apparated, her last thoughts were of her father, and so this is why she was here.

She didn't have to look around to know where she was going, her legs moved on their own and her eyes never lingered, this was her home and despite the many years it had been she knew it as well as she knew the back of her hand. Years could have washed over her but only in few minutes did she come upon an old ruin.

This old ruin was a small little house, made of wood and bricks, stained with the heat of fire. It smelt strongly of both smoke and crisp nature. Overgrown weeds covered most of the houses front, the door was off its hinges and the roof blown apart. An entire tree seemed to grow up through the middle of the house too. It looks like one of those houses you would find in a horror film, however, at the same time it looked like something from a fairytale. The place looked eerily out of place in the forest.

Scarlet stepped closer, the sight of the house bringing forth her attention, she almost tripped over some vine-like plant as her eyes were so distracted by the old ruin. She found herself at the door, and pushed it lightly as to enter, the wood was moist and weak. A new aroma filled her, the smoke was more intense here and all the while it smelt pleasant to her. As though, she was smelling memories of her distant and forgotten past. Maybe it was just the air it's thickness that made her eyes bead with tears.

The moonlight was growing brighter: a shaft of light revealed bits of paper, books and small objects scattered over the carpet. A few of the books had been shaken roughly enough to part company with their covers, and sundry pages littered the floor.

At last, laying face down on the floor she spotted what looked like a small piece of paper under the chest of drawers. And next, she was keeling in what must have been the living room. Tears were dripping from the end of her round nose as she held the photograph in her hands.
