James's POV
"Good news." The nurse told me, walking into the room I was currently sitting in with the baby. "He's passed all his tests, he weighs 6 pounds, 14 ounces, 19 and a half inches long, he's 2 days old, and the DNA test was positive, he is your son." She said. I smiled, looking down at my boy. "Just fill out his birth certificate, and then you can go." She added, turning and walking out of the room.
"What are you going to name him?" Piper asked. She was sitting beside me, because she had insisted on coming to the hospital with me.
Riley and I had been together for 2 weeks now. I really liked her, more than any other girl. We were randomly talking about baby names, even though it would be years before either of us had children, we might not even have kids together, I mean we could easily break up at any moment. "I like Andy Scott, short for Andrew. Or Calvin Scott. I really like Scott as a middle name." I said, telling Riley the name I would name a son.
"I like Finley because it's a family name on my dads side. If we had a son together though, I'd choose Jay for the middle name, because it sounds like James, but isn't exactly it. I think it's important for a child to feel connected to you, more than just by blood." She explained.
I hadn't liked the name at the time, but if this was the closest I was getting to Riley ever again, I was choosing it. Besides, it had kinda grown on me. "Finley Jay." I answered Piper's question, looking up to meet her eyes.
"Cute." She said, smiling.Michelle's POV
James entered the studio, cradling the child. "How'd it go?" I asked, curiously.
"It's my son." He answered without lifting his eyes from the boy.
"Does he have a name?" Alfie asked. James looked up, and meet Alfie's eyes. The look in his eyes was enough to kill. James had never forgiven Alfie, so it was probably a bad move for Alfie to speak.
"Finley Jay Brennan." He answered coldly. The death glare between them continued for a while, before Amanda broke the silence.
"Can I hold him?" She asked. James looked over, finally pulling away from Alfie's eyes.
"Of course." He smiled, placing Finley in her arms.••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••
James's POV
"Couldn't you have bought a simpler crib?" Piper asked as she tried to help me put it together.
"I wanted the best." I answered, hammering a nail into place.
"It can't be the best if we don't finish it." She told me. I rolled my eyes. We were about halfway done, but it had been 4 hours.
"The guy said this was the easiest to put together." I told her. She laughed.
"Yeah right." She said sarcastically, glancing at the instructions. We heard a knock at the door, before Michelle opened it.
"Are you almost done?" She asked, looking stressed. She was holding Finley in her arms, bouncing him as he cried. Yes, I had made A troupe help me set up/look after Finn. It's a lot of work. "He's getting really fussy." Michelle added, trying to calm his crying.
"Have you fed him?" I questioned.
"Of course I have, he's not hungry." She said annoyed.
"Changed him?" I inquired.
"I'm not stupid, I've done all the basic stuff. He just won't stop crying!" She exclaimed.
"Well I don't know. You should use some maternal instincts or something." I told her.
"I'm not a mother!" She said frustrated. I shrugged, turning back to the crib, as she walked out, mumbling something under her breath.
