in memory of susanna

you never told any of us you were suicidal, not one of us. not even your best friend.

i hung out with you every day and have done for the past couple of years, and you were always smiling and laughing and looking happy. you were quiet and never liked being centre of attention, but i always thought you were happy.

we got on alright, didn't we? i thought you could have come to me - or any of us - if you were sad. i guess not. i guess you didn't tell anybody how you were feeling.

you were one of my closest friends, and our entire friendship circle miss you so much. we just sit in silence now, which is strange, because you were the one who was silent.

susie, i wish i could have told you that if you're hurt, or are hurting, it's okay. it doesn't make you weak.

i don't think you wanted to end your life. you just wanted to end the pain.
