A few days have gone by and Sebastian has noticed a few things: After sharing such an intimate conversation with him, Ciel can barely stand to look at him. Dinners are separate, time is spent longer in his study tending to the company. For someone who wants me by their side at all cost, he surely is laying on the distance thick.
Sebastian makes his way through the manor with afternoon tea, knowing exactly where to meet his 'not-so-young-anymore' master. In his study. "Your tea, my lord." Ciel continued to keep his head down, focusing on his work. Sebastian stands by, waiting for a little change in his behavior. "Won't you take a short break and step outside. I understand the company is and always will be your first priority, but please do not ignore the fact that being cooped up in here can be detrimental for you-", "Sebastian, please spare me a lecture. I'm over thirteen-thousand years of age. I think I know what would be good for me." Sebastian stands in silence with slight irritation on his face. The goes on for about five minutes before he's had enough. "Master.. look at me." Ciel ignores his request. "Ciel.", "You dare call me out of my title-" He turns to his butler and immediately met with a gentle touch to his cheek. "There you are..." Ciel's eyes widen as a wild blush spreads across his face. Feeling that he was going to turn away, Sebastian take this time to place his other hand on the armrest of the office chair to stop him. Sebastian lowers his tone to just between the pair. "Look at me when you speak to me. We are equals by now, are we not?"
Ciel's words were lost from him. "I-I..." He stammered. "Sebastian..." The pressure of the closeness was just too much as he finally musters up the energy to push his butler back. " E-enough. I-I understand it now... just..... I need some space.", "You want me to be close to you and now you want space? Ciel, we shared one conversation a little out of the ordinary and now you're acting like this? What's going on?-", "I DON'T KNOW SEBASTIAN!... I don't know. All I know is you're too close and... a-and I can't take it anymore. Please..." Sebastian stands, eyebrows furrowed. He contemplated responding but ultimately decided against it. "Alright then... I have an errand I've been needing to run. Do you mind if I take my leave?" Ciel turns back to his work. "Yes that's fine. Just go. Be back before dinner." Sebastian bows before taking his exit.

"I just don't understand where to go from here. He's so stubborn sometimes. Really loving up to that Phantomhive name.", "You just have to be patient with him.. It's been one hell of a century for him." Sebastian scoffs at the voice over the landline, "That's my line is it not? Anyway I have to start dinner. Thank you for your time." He says before hanging up and heading towards the kitchen.
His mind went back to all the lose and grief Ciel's had to go through on his own throughout the years. Sebastian was used to losing people. It's no new concept, by any means. But for Ciel... He was new to it all, although he'd definitely had his fair-share of death and disappointment, death as an immortal is different. You learn to keep your distance from people in fear of their inevitable demise, isolating yourself from any and everyone. After Pluto's death six months ago, Ciel decided then. That, that was the moment he wouldn't dare get close to another soul. It was just too awful. Leaving him surround by loneliness and demons. Leaving him only with bitterness and silent rage.

Sebastian returns to the study to retrieve Ciel, as requested. "Young master...", "Oh please Sebastian, I am hardly young anymore." Sebastian laughs to himself a little before composing himself. "Your dinner is ready... master." Ciel looks at him curiously, "What? What's so funny? I am not young. My facial hair has even needed to be shaven upon occasion.", "I know sir, I just.. I don't know, remembering your younger, more stubborn years is a little... amusing. Especially because you still carry that stubbornness with you until today." Ciel blushes lightly after being called out on his, still, some-what childish behavior. "S-shut up. Let's eat then, shall we?" He pushes past his butler in the doorway, heading toward the dinning hall.

Ciel clears his throat before speaking. "Well... that was delicious as always.. t-thank you."
Slowly, but sure, there is a small shift.
To be continued...
