Chapter 3: Ignorance Isn't Bliss
You hear the sounds
They’re carried out
There’s no sympathy for the dead
It swells and I was never the same
Ronnie paused outside the bedroom door when he heard his own voice. He smirked darkly, believing this to be a confirmation of his suspicions.
“Ah ha! I knew you took my CD,” he said, walking over to the CD player. He frowned upon finding that not only was there no disc playing, but it was a different CD in there altogether. “Okay, how are you listening to it?”
I smiled smugly, enjoying his growing look of confusion. “It’s being played on the radio.”
He eyed the radio suspiciously, but didn’t say anything. I knew the song was coming to an end, so I turned it up a little louder. “Here, this should explain everything!”
Ronnie sat down on the edge of the bed, listening to the DJ recapping how Escape the Fate won the contest. His confusion morphed into a dumbfounded expression as he continued frowning at the radio. You would think he’d be just a little bit happier…
“What the hell, Megan?” he shouted. His raised voice caught Max’s attention. He stepped across the hall and entered our room with a concerned expression.
“Everything alright in here, dude?”
Ronnie eyes narrowed into tiny slits as a vein throbbed in his forehead. He pointed at me and said, “She stole my demo disc and sent it to 93X for some stupid contest. Oh, and apparently we won and get to play with My Chemical Romance.”
Max took a hesitant step backward as if he were afraid that Ronnie was about to snap. “Uh…I fail to see what’s so bad about that. Did you even hear what you just said?”
“She entered us in a contest without even asking first. You know what? Whatever…I don’t need this right now.” And with that he stormed out the front door.
“What the hell is his problem?” I said, groaning as I fell back onto the bed and glared at the ceiling. “He should be thanking me.”
Max lay down next to me and pulled me into a sideways hug. “Don’t worry about him, Megan. I don’t think it’s settled in just yet. I mean, c’mon, MCR? You know he’s stoked.”
“He sure has a funny way of showing it.”

Throughout the day, all of the other band members expressed their gratitude. What did Ronnie do? He ran up to the room that we share, locked me out, and didn't talk to anyone the rest of the day.
Since I was locked out of the place I now call my room, I sneaked into Max’s abandoned room and watched a movie. Just as I was starting to enjoy the silent solitude, Max ran up the stairs yelling, "Friday night! Friday night!"
He looked surprised to see me in his room, but quickly resumed his chanting. Taking the bait, I paused the movie and gave him and inquisitive look. "Friday night? That's tonight. So, what's the big deal?"
"Duh, we're going to party because...it's Friday night!"
I rolled my eyes. "Do I have to? His majesty locked me out of the room."
Max ran over to the dresser and moved some things around in the drawer before pulling out a little key. "Not to fear, I have the key! You're going tonight and so is he."
