Chapter 20: Love Game

I stared at my reflection for the fourteenth time in the last hour. My stomach bubbled with excitement as I thought about my plans with Craig tonight. Aside from the fact that I hadn’t seen him in years, it was going to be great to think about someone other than Ronnie for once.

The doorbell tore me away from my own staring contest. I answered the door with a polite smile, which doubled in size when I saw him. He looked amazing. Instead of settling for a simple ‘hello,’ I wrapped my arms around him and pulled him into an embrace.

We stayed that way for a minute or two before separating. “It’s nice to see you, too,” he said, chuckling.

“It’s been way too long,” I sighed, joining him on the porch. “So, where are we eating? I’m starving!”

He led me to his convertible Mustang parked near the curb. “That’s for me to know and you to find out,” he said with a wink. He sped out of the neighborhood and headed straight for downtown Vegas.

Suddenly, I felt really underdressed.

Knowing that the show would be starting soon, I decided it would be best to get this phone call over with. The guilt from keeping this to myself would definitely screw with my ability to perform. Besides, Megan had the right to know…and I could tell no one else would be man enough to inform her.

Much to my surprise, the phone rang unanswered several times before going into voicemail. That was odd…Megan always had her phone on her. I tried calling two more times before relenting and leaving a message.

“Uh…hey, Megan, it’s Max. Just calling to see how you’ve been. Well, actually, there’s something I have to tell you. Ronnie was…well…he was with some other girl…in my bunk, today. I’m really sorry that I have to tell you this, but you need to know –.”

The message was cut short when Ronnie stormed into the room and snatched my phone. “What the hell do you think you’re doing?”

“What you should be doing – telling Megan what you’ve been up to!”

“You little prick,” he spat. “Why would you tell her about that? She didn’t need to know.”

I couldn’t help but laugh at that. He must be insane if he expected me to betray her like that. “Whatever, Ronnie. Just know this, she will get that message and figure out what you’re up to. Then maybe, just maybe, she’ll be done with you once and for all.”

“That’s what you think,” he scoffed. “She’ll never get over me.”

+ Ronnie’s POV +

Not caring to continue talking to that backstabber, let alone have to look at him any longer, I went to the back room of the bus and punched the nearest wall. I didn’t even care about the pain that crept up my arm or the small pools of blood that collected around my knuckles.

Despite my outward confidence, I know that there’s only so much that Megan will take before finally giving up. I may not feel the same for her, but I didn’t want to lose her. Ronnie Radke is not a loser.

Following Max’s example, I dialed Megan’s number and was only slightly disappointed to get the voicemail. Oh well…it’s show time.

“Hey Megan, it’s Ronnie. Let me just begin by saying how much I miss you and how sorry I am for allowing Bryan to do that prank earlier. He thought it’d be funny to pretend to be me while the guys acted like there was a girl in the background. The only one who didn’t participate was Max…I think he might be jealous of us. That’s why he left that message. I swear I haven’t slept with anyone on this tour. I wouldn’t do that to you. I love you Megan. Don’t forget it.”
