That Friday Emily walked to Chester between classes.
"Chess, can we talk?" She asked. Chester looked up from his phone and quickly put it away before answering.
"Sure, what is it?"
"Can we go out right after school?"
"Why?"
"My dad is a freak and is probably going to follow me when you pick me up, and I don't want that."
"Ehm... I do have football practice after school, so would you mind waiting an hour?"
"No, that's fine."
"Okay, than that is settled." Chester said and smiled at her. "I look forward to it."
"Me too." Emily said and they both went to their next class. After school Chester and some other boys went to the field for practice. They started by just kicking some balls into the goal and running some lapps and they ended with a little game against each other. After practice the boys all hit the showers and went home, except Chester. After he showered he went back to the field and met a woman there, who gave him an envelope, said a few things to him and left. Chester looked at the envelope for a couple of seconds before putting it into his bag and walking towards the school. Emily sat at the entrance reading a book and Chester grinned a little. He slowly and softly walked to her and wanted to try to scare her. When he was close he lifted his arms to pat her shoulders.
"Don't even think about it, Chess." Emily said and chuckled.
"How did you know it was me?"
"I know your little footsteps anywhere, twinkle toes."
"Did you just....what?"
"Nothing, shall we go?"
"Yeah, good idea."
Emily packed  her stuff and they walked out, they walked towards Chester's car and they stepped in. They drove to a restaurant and a waiter brought them to a table. They sat down and talked a bit before they could order. Emily looked around a bit and her smile suddenly faded.
"Chess, do you mind to switch seats?" Emily asked.
"Why?"
"Look back, the table next to the entrance." Emily said and they both looked back. Andy sat there talking to a man she didn't know.
"I don't think he saw us yet, and I don't want him to see me here with you."
"Why? Can't he know we go out?"
"If he knows he will act like you are going to marry me, he will be extra nice to you but he will look at you in discus when you come by sometimes because he thinks you are having sex with  me."
"You're kidding, right?"
"No, I'm not."
"Let's switch seats then."
They quickly switched seats and soon their food came. they ate some and talked a lot. When they finished their dessert and wanted to pay the check Emily took it.
"No, Em, I pay." Chester said.
"You already went through the trouble to get us here, I'll pay."
"No, I'm not letting you pay. A girl is not supposed to pay."
"Split?"
"Fine." Chester said but when the waiter came he paid everything.
"I thought we were splitting?"
"We are, I pay all and you pay none, fair split."
Emily sighed. "You're not letting me pay a single penny, are you?"
"Nope."
"Shall we go then?"
"Okay, I'll bring you home."
They walked out and Chester drove then to Emily's place. Chester parked and smiled at Emily.
"I really enjoyed it."
"Me too." Emily said and smiled back.
"I hope we can do it again."
"I'd like that."
"Do you have time tomorrow?"
"Yes, I do. Where do you want to go?"
"We can go to a club again, if you want."
"Sure, sounds good."
"Okay, I'll see you tomorrow then."
"Yes, see you then." Emily said and got out and walked to the front door. Chester stepped out the car and walked to her.
"Em, wait."
Emily turned to him, Chester wrapped his arm around her waist and kissed her. Emily's eyes widened but slowly melted into the kiss. Chester cupped her cheek with one hand while wrapping the other tighter around her. Emily slowly wrapped her arms around his neck and pulled him a bit closer. Chester pulled back slightly and smiled. Emily let out a short sigh while smiling a bit.
"Ehm..... eh."
"I like you, Emily, a lot." Chester said and smiled.
"I-I like you too."
Chester smiled. "So... will you be my girl?"
"I... Yes, of course."
Chester smiled and gave her a kiss. "I'll see you tomorrow." He said before he let go of her and walked back to his car. Emily waved after him before going into the house. she sat on the couch and only then noticed her hands were shaking a bit. About an hour later Andy came in, Emily just closed her laptop after a short talk with Alex.
"Hey." Andy said.
"Hey dad." Emily said and noticed he was a little flustered.
"How was your dinner date with Chester?" Andy asked.
"W-what are you talking about?"
"I saw you in the restaurant, you switched seats when you saw me."
"T-that wasn't me... ehm... I..."
"I know you were there, did you have fun?"
"I...yes, it was fun..."
"Good. I like him already."
"You've met him before, but why?"
"He paid."
"Are you serious?"
"What? That means he is a gentleman, that's a good thing,"
"You make yourself sound like you care about the money."
"I don't, Emily. If you would pay that would be fine with me."
"Yeah, sure."
It was silent with a little while.
"I saw you were there with someone, who was he?" Emily asked curious.
"Ehm.... that's my boss." Andy said. "We needed to talk about some stuff at work."
"Okay..."
"So.... Will I see Chester here more?"
"P-perhaps."
"As just your friend?"
"Gosh, you are a child sometimes, dad." Emily said and walked up the stairs.
"What? I'm just curious."
"That's the problem!" Emily called from the stairs and went to her room.
