Quarrel quickly walked back to his quarters after he finished receiving a stern lecture from Snape for sneaking around the coridors as if he was a miss behaving student out after curfew. On the other hand who would have thought that a simple stroll through the night would be so advantageous, not only Snape but McGonagall as well were keeping a very large secret from dumbledore. Of course all of the staff had been there when the old man had asked them if they had found the malfunction in the wards around Potters house when they had returned late that evening only to be shocked when they had reported her missing with the entire family nowhere to be found. When word got out to the press that the girl who lived had gone missing the reporters had a field day tearing into dumbledores reputation he had been most amused by the article in the prophet calling him an incompetent fool who was going senile and would become a danger to society at least that was the nicest way to summarize what had been said in the article. The out cry had been so great that the minister had been forced to send out a team of aurors so that the population wouldn't aim it's anger at the ministry after all if one of the most celebrated witchs of their world could go missing with out a trace or investigation what did it mean for the safty of ordinary witch's and wizards even the pure bloods had been up in arms as the child was the only known heir to the ancient house of Potter that had decended from the house of Gryfindor. If a founders heir went missing with out a trace what was to keep the heirs of the less ancient houses safe should something happen.
Entering his own rooms he easily slipped out of the bumbling idiot mask he was forced to convay, Quarrel had been such an easy personality to suppress that when Voldemort had taken over the idiot had retreated into the farthest corner of his mind not even trying to gain his control back. It was a very pleasant outcome as it alowed Voldemort complete control over the body and he would not have to waste his time or energy fighting for the absolute control that he currently had. A few tweaks had to be made in appearance but with some well stuttered lies the fools around him had believed his every word all exept for Severus which he was as proud of as he was annoyed, it meant that his faithful spy was still brighter than the other fools that dumbledore employed but it also meant he would have to bring the man into his plans something he had been hoping would not be required.
Voldemort stopped in front of a full length mirror that rested in his bed chamber as he thought back to what he had learned that night. While the connection between Snape and the girl was not entirely un welcomed after all family was more inclined to side with family and if she considered Snape to be her only family in the Wizarding world then she may hear him out and side with him instead of against him. Then there was the information Snape has given him, if this ancient sentient gem had really been waiting a millenia for her just so it could finish it's formation then that meant that the prophecy that had caused him to attack the family in the first place was null en void after all anyone who had studied as deeply into soul magic and divination as he had would know that the soul of a person could only attach to one life altering prophecy at a time. He would have to check the department of mysteries to see if the prophecy was even real or not after all he could have simply gotten the wrong child or it could be a fake prophecy that was just a manipulation of Dumbledores it was hard to tell what lengths that man was willing to go to for him to get what he wants.
"Snape agreed to meet her three days from now that should be enough time to check on the prophecy before convincing Snape to take me with him and McGonagall, if all else fails I could simply reveal to him just who I am it would be a last resort but if he is willing to keep Potter away from the war then I would have no reason to go after her" with a semi solid plan put together Voldemort sat down to write a letter to one of the unspeakables that were under his control demanding access to the hall of prophecy the next day.
---------------------------------------------------------
Voldemort easily passed thru the ministry lobby and around the hords of people until he reached the meeting spot he had specified in his letter. Leaning against the wall he waited with his arms folded over his chest, it had been far to easy for him to take the day off from the beginning of school preperations a few words to dumbledore about a sick friend in need and he had been given the next week off. A wizard in an ordinary black robe came and stood beside him still as a statue for a few seconds before he managed to speak in a whisper the code Voldemort had written in his letter.
"A locket, a cup, a sword, and a crown" Voldemort smirked as he turned to Rockwood.
"A snake, a badger, a lion, and a raven" his death eater nodded before leading him silently away from the atrium and into a secret tunnel only used as an escape tunnel from the department of mysteries should something go wrong. As they exited the tunnel and headed thru different doors and hallways Voldemort kept a close eye on his surroundings and where they were. Finally entering the hall of prophecy Voldemort stalked quietly down the rows until he reached a small raised platform, placing his hand on it Voldemort whispered the name of the girl who lived and his title. When nothing happened Voldemort tried again only this time whispering her initials and his suddenly the platform glowed and an orb came flying off the shelf to land in his hands, taking the orb and placing it into his cloak Voldemort returned to his follower and the two of them split ways with out another
word.Exiting the ministry voldemort returned to slitherin castle one of the few properties he had never in formed his followers of. Sitting in his throne like chair Voldemort cast the spell that would alow the orb to speak it's prophecy only for the orb to remain silent. Voldemort growled as he aimed his wand at the orb and began to cast every revealing spell he knew of, three hours latter he finally received his answer when the last of the spells had been unraveled the orb simply turned to dust. Voldemort grinned as he was filled with vitious glee, the prophecy had been a fake created by dumbledore with this and all the other manipulations he had made in her life Emerald was sure to join him to take her revenge now he simply needed to get Severus to agree to take him with them when they went to see the child.
Voldemort returned to the school just as the rest of the staff where finishing their suppers and exiting the great hall.
"Ah Quarrel you certainly have come back rather quickly is you friend any better now" dumbledore asked with that infuriating twinkle in his eye and the grandfather smile in place.
"N-n-not q-q-quiet yet, I'm a-a-afraid I w-will n-n-need p-p-p-prof-f-fessor S-s-snape to h-help me w-w-with a p-p-potion" the other professor's looked between the quivering Quarrel and the grim potions master.
"It seems that I have no choice in the matter, very well Quarrel I will aid you if only to keep you from destroying the Classroom before the Gryfindor's have even set foot in the room" with that Severus turned sharply and walked down the hall with his robes billowing out around him
