2 Weeks Later. Pov. of a Her with no Name.
I looked to the left and felt the scratches I made on the wall of this tiny cell. It was snowing outside, you could hardly see anything outside. I've only found a few places on the world map with this kind of weather. My theory is that this is some laboratory in Drachma built to help take down their arch nemesis, the northern wall of Briggs. Or we could be some Fort Briggs's laboratory built to help protect Amestris, either theory could work.
I am learning to control this crazy new "power" of mine. At night I am not as cold any more, which is a plus. I can't use my ability to its full extent without passing out after 4 and a half minutes or until I deactivate it. In testing I would wake up 45-25 minutes later, so it's practically a trump card. Doing test alone was weird. Usually the other fox chimeras and I would all be tested on stamina, endurance and fighting . Everything has been different since that experiment two weeks ago. Testing schedules for me has changed and I am doing a lot more physical test than laboratory test. The only time I saw a needle this week was when they were drawing blood for testing. My alchemy has also looked more effective. The statues I've made are more in detail and larger, which is good.
In the hall I heard distant footsteps and two people talking. I couldn't make it out so I put my ear to the door and focused, trying not to make any noise. Their footsteps were really loud, but I could make out their voices. "It was amazing when Dr. León's project worked! The surviving subject has shown so much improvement!" said a man, probably in his early 30's or late 20's. "Yes it was. Also did you hear what Dr. León ... " said the other, older, man. I stopped focusing and realized they were marching closer and closer and while I was supposed to be asleep. I tip-toed back into bed quick enough for them not to notice me.
The men walked down the hall, continuing to discuss about rumors that were spreading around the laboratory. What was he saying about that giggly bastatd, Dr. León? Eh, not my problem. I cocooned myself with my blanket and turned toward the scarred wall and let my heavy eyelids take over.
I woke up shivering. The storm had only grown worse. I got up with my blanket and huddled near the door away from the window and used my new power to try and keep warm, but this cement floor prevented anything. I started to think about how cold the other "prisoners" must be. I stood up and looked through the whole in the door and questioned why it was so silent. Normally the scientist would be pacing around always. Maybe it got too cold? Probably not, this never happens. It's just too quiet-.
A bloodcurdling scream ricocheted down the endless halls, then silence. Dead silence. The cell doors opened, making me jump and almost fall over, then the alarms began blaring. Cold, hurt people looked out of there holes and analyzed the hallways while still shivering in their blankets. Something is going on, something bad is lurking these halls... maybe.
A vicious, bloodthirsty roar echoed through the building. My theory was not false. Outside, the blizzard still attacked the laboratory, but unless we get out of here that thing is going to kill us, probably . I hate speaking to people but- "Okay everyone, calm down. I know there is a thing out there, that could probably kill us all, but don't fret, please. Everyone grab there blankets and get into my cell. Please do it quietly, cause, you know." Everyone looked around, every was afraid of one another, but I could smell something getting closer. The sent was familiar, but different. Like feeling someone breathe on my neck, but still no one near me.
As they all pored into the the cell I got every one to gather and I used my blanket to start a little fire. It takes a lot of energy to use my flame when I'm not in crazy wildfire mode. I looked up and whispered "If any of you have the strength or will to fight, guard near the door, but don't look past the door. Whatever that thing is, it'll see you, probably.". They all looked at each other, complete strangers told by a stranger to just stand and protect the other strangers from the danger stranger wondering the halls. One, probably bear chimera aged around 19 stood up and volunteered. Since it was my idea, I stood up too. As I got up I saw a little girl, with small bunny ears huddled in the corner shivering and quietly thumping her foot, staring through me with those eyes that feared everything. Just how I was when I was a younger. I got up and turned toward the door, next to bear stranger.
"What should I call you?" bear stranger looked me into my eyes waiting for an answer, but then he seemed to be embarrassed. "I mean if I needed to call you- your name for some dramatic reason." I gave out a laugh that sounded more like a sigh. "I get it, but I don't have one. Well, one of the scientist calls me Doggy? Do you have a name?" He paused for a second, it seems he didn't have a name either. "Um, call me, Jupiter. Yeah, Jupiter. If you don't have a name why don't you thin- "
He suddenly stopped talking, all the whisperers did, and we all knew why. The sound of loud footsteps bounced off the corridors walls. Then they stopped, still many meters away. "Herherherh" At that I noticed it right away what this was. A fiery of rage pent up anger and fire burned my chest. I put my hand up and held back Jupiter and looked at him. He definitely could see in my eyes that I had claimed this battle. I could see the shock in his face. I put my hand down and set off my "trump card". I should really get a cool name for it like in those books, "Pent up Rage", "Teenage Pu- yeah no, or "Fiery". Wow, that one actually sounds really cool.
With my short hair flickering like a flame, I walked out a couple of steps and looked down the hall towards the direction of the laugh.
"Herherherh! Nice to see you again, Doggy!"
