Chapter 2
I jump behind the nearest bookshelf. My hearts starts racing and my breathing becomes erratic. When I decided to purchase my school supplies today, I never thought that I'd see her. I suppose I should have thought that she might choose today to go shopping, but it never crossed my mind. So when she calmly entered Flourish and Blotts, I freaked. I'm not ready to talk to her yet and being in the same room with her makes my brain go numb anyway.
I close my eyes and try to calm myself. When I can breathe without sounding like a hot tea kettle I start looking for the rest of my books. Once I've secured the required reading materials, I walk up to the counter to pay. I'm not paying attention to where I'm going so I accidentally bump into to someone. I bend down and pick up the books I knocked out of her hands before I look up.
My heart stops beating as I look into her brown eyes. I can't breathe and my jaw drops open. It doesn't help that our faces are only inches away from each other. She states at me and gently takes the books out of my hands. Her eyes remain emotionless as she walks up to the counter and pays for her books. I stand up just as she opens the door to leave.
"I'm sorry." I say before she exits the store.
She stops and turns her head for a second. I think that she wants to say something but doesn't know what to say. When she leaves, I pay for my books and walk back into the alley. I have the rest of my supplies so I just apparate back home. Once I'm in my room, I lay on my bed and cry because those two little words meant so much more than they seemed to and she barely acknowledged them. This is going to be a lot harder than I thought.
