Chapter 16

Hermione shakes me awake. I sit up and look around. I'd forgotten that I had slept on the couch. Hermione smiles at me and kisses me on the lips before walking out of the common room and into the corridor. I hurry up and get ready for the day. When I'm mildly presentable, I walk out and join Hermione in the hall. It's Saturday, so we get to spend the whole day together.

"How are you today?" Hermione asks me.

"I'm doing great so far. How are you?" I reply.

"Fantastic."

I take Hermione's hand and we walk down to the Great Hall to get some breakfast. We talk and laugh on the way down the stairs. Hermione talks about a strange dream that she had and I can't help but laugh. It was funny and she finally agreed with me. We're lost in a world of our own and we almost walk right past the Great Hall. This only makes both of us laugh harder. We're still laughing as we sit down across from Ginny.

"What's so funny?" Ginny asks as we sit down.

"A lot of things. It's a great day isn't it?" Hermione asks.

"Sure it is."

"Is something wrong?"

"Kind of."

"What's wrong, Ginny?"

"Ron and Harry are going to be at Hogsmeade today. Ron wants to talk to you."

I look down at the table and clench my jaw. Hermione takes my hand and kisses me on the cheek. She squeezes my hand, but I just stare at the table. This was supposed to be a great day and Ron has to go and ruin it. He just had to go and ruin it. I hate him. I really hate him. He's not going to get Hermione back. I swear it. I'm not going to let that...

"Ouch!" I shout as something hits me in the forehead.

"Welcome back to reality." Ginny smiles.

"You threw bacon at me?"

"Yes."

"Why?"

"You weren't paying attention."

I frown at her and she throws a piece of toast at my face. It hits me and I pick it up and throw it back at Ginny. She dodges the toast and throw a spoonful of eggs at me. I manage to dodge the eggs and throw some bacon at her. She dodges the bacon and is about to throw a piece of chicken at me when Professor McGonagall appears behind her and takes the piece of chicken. I'm expecting her to scold us for throwing food, but instead she just shakes her head and walks away.

"That chicken would have hurt." I complain.

"Not if you dodged it." Ginny says.

"If I dodged it. What if I didn't?"

"Then it would have hurt."

"Exactly."

"Oh stop being such a baby."

"You were going to throw a chicken leg at me!"

"So?"

"So it would have hurt!"

"Only because you can't dodge."

"Why would you throw a piece of chicken at me anyway?!"

"It was the closest thing."

"No it wasn't! The toast is much closer!"

"Okay, so I felt like throwing a chicken leg at you."

"Why?!"

"Why not?"

"You're evil."

"Am not!"

"Are too!"

"Am not!"

"Are too!"

"Alright! Will you two stop arguing and just finish eating? We obviously have a really long day ahead." Hermione interjects.

"Alright." I mumble.

"Fine." Ginny sighs.

We all go back to eating. Ginny and I occasionally throw glares at each other. She holds a piece of bacon up threateningly and I hold up my piece of toast. Hermione rolls her eyes at us and calmly goes back to eating. I finish my plate and lean my head on Hermione's shoulder. She leans her head against mine and finishes eating.

Once the plates disappear, we stand up and GInny follows us out of the Great Hall. We look around and decide to head to Hogsmeade. Hermione holds my hand the whole time and Ginny walks slightly in front of us. Every step makes me more anxious. What if Hermione does take him back? What if she says no and he does something stupid? What if I do something stupid and end up in Azkaban? Why am I freaking out about this? Hermione loves me and she doesn't love Ron. Hermione loves me. She loves me. Not Ron.

We finally make it to Hogsmeade and we decide to head to Honeydukes before going to the Three Broomsticks. Hermione holds my hand as we walk around the candy store. She never leaves my side and gives my hand reassuring squeezes whenever I look towards the Three Broomsticks. I try to look around at the different sweets but my mind keeps wandering to the meeting that's going to happen later. I'm not exactly sure how it happened, but Ginny managed to convince Hermione and me to buy a little of just about everything in the store. When we walk out of the store, Ginny pulls us towards Weasley's Wizard Wheezes so that we can eat our sweets in peace.

"Hey Gin. Ron was looking for you earlier." George says as we walk into the joke shop.

"Really? Oh well. We're going upstairs. If he comes back, tell him that you haven't seen us." Ginny says as she leads us to the flat above the store.

"Still sore about that little argument?"

"Maybe."

"I won't tell him where you are."

"Thanks George!"

Ginny opens the door to the flat and leads us inside. Hermione pulls me towards the couch and pushes me down. She sits on my lap and snuggles into my chest before I even know what's going on. I wrap my arms around her and bury my face into her hair. We sit like that for a few moments before Ginny starts throwing pieces of candy at us. The candy distracts us and a candy food fight ensues. Before long, there's candy everywhere and we're all laughing. After we calm ourselves, we look at the ground before looking around at each other.

"Well, let's get this over with." Hermione says quietly.

"Okay." I whisper.

We all stand up and Ginny leads us out of the flat. George gives us a concerned look as we leave, but doesn't say anything. The walk to the Three Broomsticks is a silent one. No one says anything and honestly what is there to say? It's not like we know what's going to happen. Either Hermione will take him back or not. I hope it's the latter. Hermione squeezes my hand and I relax a little bit. Of course she won't take him back. She loves me. She loves me and she doesn't love him.
