Sometimes she wishes that she had stayed.
Christian was the best person that Colette had ever known. He was sweet, kind, funny, talented, loyal; in other words, he was the perfect boyfriend.
And she, Colette, was the worst person she had ever known. Short tempered, impatient, sad, angry, fully equipped with a sharp tongue and a stray heart; in other words, she was the worst girlfriend ever. They were a recipe for disaster from the start.
Yet he loved her. She’d never know why, but he did.
Sometimes she just got so angry at herself that she cried over it. She would cry for a long time, and then she would remind herself that it wasn’t her fault. She had a stray heart. She couldn’t do anything about it.
She would tell herself that there was no going back, and then she would move onto the next city.
