The Two Brawlers

Chapter 1

Hey guys, this will be the first chapter of my fanfiction. It will pretty much be getting to know my OC and other characters....well you'll see when you read it. I hope you guys enjoy.

P.O.V. Jason Dream (flashback to 7 years old)

Mom and I are walking through our favorite part of the woods near our home in Patch pulling my baby sister in her wagon like we always do on relaxing days like this one.

Jason: Hey mama where's Dad, I thought he liked going on walks with us.

Alison: He does like walking with us honey, he's just busy with Uncle Qrow (Alison and Church consider Qrow, Tai and Summer their siblings)

Jason: He's always away with Uncle Qrow mama. When will he be home?

Alison: *sighs* I don't know sweetie, hopefully soon.

Carolina: *Clings her puppy plushie tight in her sleep* Daddy....don't leave again (She's only four)

We stopped at our favorite spot in the woods and watched the sun shine through the giant trees. I look at my mother and smile, her silver eyes meeting my own.

Alison: I love you Ja---

Just then I see her wolf ears fall flat on top of her head and I look down to see a set of claws piercing through her stomach. The claws retracted and I just stood there in shock as I watched my mother's lifeless body fall onto the cold, leaf covered ground. A Beowulf had killed my mother right in front of me.

Jason: M-Mom?

I felt my body heat up and I heard Carolina start crying.....

End of dream

Jason: MOM!

I shot up from my sleep, my body felt unnaturally hot which had to have meant my semblance activated itself. It's been 11 years since that horrible day which also means that it's been 11 years since I've been back home. All these years I've been living on a rooftop out in Atlas. I took out my picture of myself and Carolina with my mom and calmed myself down.  A tear rolled down my cheek and dripped onto the picture when i heard a familiar voice from behind me.

???: Having trouble sleeping Epsilon?

Shocked I quickly turned around and turned my silver bracelets into my shotgun gauntlets. When I turned around I saw my father who I haven't seen since Carolina was born.

Jason: What are you doing here Church? I thought you were on some mission with Qrow. *Mumbles* Like you always have been.

Church: *jokingly* Epsilon, is that any way to talk to your dad?

Jason: No it's not any way to talk to my dad, but you're not my dad. Because a dad would've been there to save my mom from the Beowulf instead of being off doing god knows what and letting her die.

Tears started streaming down my cheeks when I noticed my father's smile disappear in an instant. He took a few steps closer to me, but I kept my guard up when he got right next to me.

Church: Look Jason, you know why I wasn't home for so long, you know I was away with Qrow to keep you, Carolina and your mother safe from what's going on out here in the real world. To make sure you three were able to have a peaceful life back in Patch.

Just then my hair turned white and my eyes turned red and I fired a shot from my gauntlets off into the distance as a big explosion occurred around me activating my semblance.

Jason: My mother is dead because you weren't around to save her! After I watched her fall dead right in front of me I took Carolina and left! I was only 7 years old, I had no idea how to even raise myself, let alone another small child! Do you know what it's like to leave your own family at an orphanage and just leave without saying goodbye! I haven't seen Carolina in 11 years! Let alone I didn't even say goodbye to Yang and Ruby when I left and I still haven't seen them once since you first left with Qrow. *Takes a deep breath* In those 11 years I've almost mastered my semblance, made this weapon you see before you right now, and graduated from the combat school here in Atlas. It's been 11 years dad.....where have you been?

After I finished my rant, my dad held my face in his hand and wiped the tears from my cheek. Just then my semblance deactivated and my gauntlets turned back into bracelets. I opened my silver eyes which now started to twinkle because of my crying.

Church: You know you're just like your mother, you both never say goodbye because you both hate goodbyes. *He starts smiling* That's a pretty intense semblance, when did you first discover it.

Jason: *sighs* As soon as mom died I used it to kill the Beowulf that killed her. Look I don't want to talk about this anymore, have you even seen Carolina while you've been all Black Ops over the years.

As soon as I say that he smiles and hands me an envelope with the Kingdom of Vale symbol on it.

Church: She'll be starting her first year at Beacon Academy, where you'll be going starting Monday. Since you're a little older you'll be in with the second year students, but at least you'll see Annabelle again. Pack your stuff 'cause we leave in the morning. *He turned and started walking towards where I sleep on the roof* Oh and Jason, be prepared for when you go to Beacon.

Jason: What do you mean? Be prepared for what?

Church: Well not only will there be an extra surprise to meet you when you start at that school, but there's gonna be some serious shit that's gonna hit Vale hard in a matter of months. So you're gonna need to be prepped and ready. Now get some sleep, you'll need your energy for what's gonna be at Beacon waiting for you.

I went over to my sleeping bag and laid down and started to fade off to sleep.

Jason: *Yawns* Hey dad?

Church: Yeah?

Jason: Thank you for finally coming back.

He didn't say anything in response to my thanks. All he did was smile and look off at the city of shining lights in front of him. Just then I drifted off to sleep with a big smile on my face as I ventured off to my dream world.

Alright guys that concludes the first chapter of my fanfic. I hope all you readers out there enjoyed it. Also I apologize to you all for anything that you think is wrong with my story. I'm sorry it took me a while to post this chapter and I will try to upload the next chapter as soon as I can although it might take a while because of school and all.
