Dan's POV
I saw the car before Adrian saw it. He wasn't paying attention.
I didn't even think, I acted before my brain could catch up.
And I as I shoved him out of the way, I saw the fear in his eyes.
I watched the car come at me.
The driver was shocked, not expecting to see anyone right in front of him.
And I heard the scream of the brakes of his car, as he tried to stop.
Too late.
I felt the car hit me, then I didn't feel much else as I sailed a couple feet away from the car.
"DAN!"
"Phil." I say, or want to say. My mouth won't form the word.
Searing pain. Worse than anything else I've ever felt.
Phil's hand on mine. "Dan," he whispers.
"Phil," I barely whimper.
"I love you."
