Sydney's POV

"You're the one that fucked up my life"

"You're just a drunk that sits on his ass all day!"

"Bitch!"

"Jackass!"

Back and forth they'd fight every night and I'd just have to sit here and listen. They'd blame me for their fights and how I screwed up their lives by being born. I wish they hadn't brought me into this horrible world. Growing up in a broken home changes a person. You have to provide for yourself at a young age, because no one else will. I mean here I am only 16, underfed and unhappy.

I decided I'd had enough for the night. I grabbed my backpack and the library key, that Miss Hood the librarian had given me. She was the only one that knew about my home situation. She figured it out by how much time I would spend at the library. So she finally gave me a key so that I could get away from my parents when the library was closed. Reading was my escape, because in books you didn't have to be yourself, you could be who ever the hell you wanted to be.

I opened the small window in my cramped bedroom and off I was into the cold July night in Australia.

Luke's POV

"Luke you're such a loser!" Calum laughed as he continued to beat me at fifa. "You're 16 and still haven't done anything adventurous! Get a life! Fuck a girl! Sneak out! Do something" I laughed at his attempt to make me like him. Calum is one out of the three friends I have. "It's just not me Cal" I shrugged.

"I'm just the nerdy kid with three friends. And that's okay to me cause at least I've got people." He smiled at the slight compliment "some people don't have anyone." I whispered to myself.

"Still Luke do something, for my sanity." He shouted as he made a goal. "I'm not trying to change you , I just want you to have all the experiences. Cause doing something bad for the first time, it give you this feeling"  he paused "It  just gives you this feeling that I just can't describe, you have to feel it for yourself" he stopped and looked back at the TV.

I thought I was just fine being the nerdy, scrawny kid that spent his lunch playing the guitar in the music room. I've come to terms with my nerdy ways. Maybe I have been missing a lot. Instead of going out with my friends I sat in my room with my headphones shoved in my ears and a book in my hands. Maybe Calum was right about that feeling that changes you, maybe I need a change.

"Alright Luke, I gotta go Melissa wants me to take her out." He spoke about his girlfriend as if she controls his life. He's lucky he has someone like Melissa who loves him just as much as his parents and siblings. "Alright Cal, I'll see you tomorrow. Say Hi to Melissa for me?" With a nod of his head he was out the door and out into the settling night.

I sat in my room for awhile thinking of what I'd be doing for the rest of the night. I'll probably practice the first cover that the boys and I were gonna post on YouTube. As I walked across my room I caught a glimpse of myself in the mirror. "Short, scrawny, wimpy, loser" I spat at my reflection. "It your time to change" I looked at myself again and scoffed. I grabbed my pullover, opened my bedroom window. I slid my small body out and into the growing night.

Sydney's POV

I spent an hour at the library. The sun had almost gone beyond the ocean. I walked out of the library locking it behind me. I decided to walk around the city for awhile because I knew my parents weren't done fighting and even if they were they'd be fucking and I'd rather not be there for either. They both get violent.

I walked down the steps from the library and was bumped by a small dark figure. "I'm sorry, I really didn't mean any harm by it." He seemed frightened as if I was gonna hit him for bumping into me. "It's fine.. um?" I looked at him trying to match a name to the small boys voice. He pulled off the hood from his head. His eyes were as blue as the Australian water  "Luke" he pushed his hand out. I was lost in the small ocean he had for eyes. "Oh.. um... Sydney." I put on a smile to mask the awkwardness of the conversation.

"What are you doing out?" He asked. "I could ask you the same thing." I scoffed "I'm sorry, jeez I'm awkward okay?" He threw his hand up. I quickly put up my hands to protect myself. "I wasn't gonna hit you" he giggled. After living with my family a defensive position became a natural reaction. "I'm sorry" I put my arms back against my boney hips.

"Sydney, can I asked you something?" He looked towards the ground. "Sure" I watched his body shift. "What is a rebellious thing to do?" He finally blurted. "What do you mean Luke?" I was unsure on why this scrawny boy wanted to be rebellious. "Like what do bad boys do?" Luke whispered. "Luke, they do what they want. What is something you've always wanted to do?" I made him look towards me.  "I've always dreamt about getting my lip pierced and of getting a tattoo." He shouted as confident as he could.

"Then let's do it"
