"You're sure you want me to do this?" Barry winced as he held the blade of the knife against his girlfriend's back, willing his fingers to stop trembling.

"Yes!" Nadya exclaimed, raising her eyebrows. "It's the only way I can get my wings, Barry." It had been at least 2 weeks since Nadya discovered she was not only the daughter of Castiel, an angel, but she was an angel herself. Needless to say, she was shocked.

It was even more shocking to find out in order to get her angel wings, she literally had to slice open her shoulder blades to release them. Knowing she obviously couldn't reach herself, she couldn't think of anybody she trusted more than Barry to do it.

"Okay..." Barry said, taking a deep breath. "I'm ready when you are."

Nadya nodded, inhaling slowly and closing her eyes. "Do it."

Barry had to refrain from shutting his eyes as he slowly cut into the skin, his heart aching when he heard his girlfriend's hisses of pain. As he progressed and got deeper, her sounds of pain got louder. "I'll stop if you want me to." He said quickly.

"K-Keep going." Nadya snapped, gripping the sides of the chair she was leaning on. Barry sighed, but continued to cut. He stopped when he saw a white glow shimmering against Nadya's skin. His brow furrowed.

"What the-" suddenly he was thrown backward as a bright, white light illuminated the room. Nadya screamed in pain as a large -very large- pair of wings were freed from her back, her eyes turning from their normal shade of bright green to a blinding white. Barry could only state in amazement, looking at his girlfriend's true form. Nadya fell to the floor, the glow of the wings finally dimming and her eyes going back to normal.

Nadya sat on the floor, tears of shock and pain sitting in her green hues now that the wings were gone once again. Barry rushed over to her side, whisking her in against his chest.

"Hey, hey, it's okay. You're fine, baby.." He cooed gently, ignoring her bloody shoulder blades as he rocked her in his lap as she cried. "Shh, I've got you.."

"I-I can't do that again.." Nadya sobbed, gripping her boyfriend's sweater tightly in her fingers. "I-I can't, I'm not strong enough.."

"Shh, baby, yes you are.." Barry murmured into her ear, stroking back her dark brown hair. "Listen, you are one of my favorite people. And I know you can do anything you set your mind to." He murmured, kissing her forehead gently. "Plus, I think you'd make a great sidekick for the Flash..."

Nadya's eyes lit up and she looked up at Barry, the corners of her lips twitching up into a soft smile. "You mean it?"

Barry smiled, nodding. "Absolutely."

Nadya grinned, nodding. "Let's do it."

Barry smiled, kissing her lips softly. "I love you..." He whispered.

"I love you too..." She hummed. "But Barry?"

"Hm?"

"Don't you ever call me a sidekick."
