Writing Prompt:
13 - "I'm never going to leave you. You're never going to have to suffer by yourself again, I promise."
It had been two weeks since Henry Allen was killed. It had also been two weeks since Barry left the house. At first, all Barry wanted to do was track down Zoom and kill him for everything he had done to him and his family. But it wasn't long after that the grief had finally set in. He didn't want to do anything. He didn't want to eat, he didn't want to sleep; and when he did sleep he was plagued with nightmares. He didn't know what to do with himself anymore.
He lied down on his bed, his lanky body curled onto the mattress as he attempted to get some sleep. He sighed when a knock on the door sounded, burying his face further into his knees. "I'm not hungry, Joe."
"Do I sound like Joe to you?" A somewhat playful voice sounded from outside the door. Barry looked up, his lips parting when he heard the familiar voice from the other side of the door.
"Come in." He said, sitting up and raking a hand through his messy brown locks.
The door opened to reveal Y/N, who walked in carrying a couple grocery bags in her left hand. She smiled gently at him. "Hey, stranger." She said softly.
"Hey." Barry whispered, his eyes floating down to the bags in her hand. "What's all that?"
"Well, I have my Harry Potter movie set, my Star Wars movie set, a deck of cards, and some of my homemade mac and cheese. Comfort food for the soul." Y/N smiled gently, setting the bags down on the nightstand. "Joe told me you hadn't been eating and I thought I'd give it a shot." She shrugged. "And if worse comes to worst, I thought maybe I could bribe you with a movie marathon." She smiled softly, sitting beside him and taking his hand into hers.
Barry smiled weakly, squeezing her hand. "You didn't have to do this." He whispered, refusing to meet her eye.
"I wanted to, though. I wanted to see how you were." Y/N murmured, rubbing a gentle hand up and down his arm.
Barry didn't respond, his eyes still glued to his carpet.
"Barry," Y/N whispered, laying a hand on his shoulder.
Barry took a shaky breath and looked up at his girlfriend, his lip quivering slightly when he saw the concern laced in her sparkling eyes.
"Oh, Bare.." Y/N whispered, reaching out so she could pull her boyfriend into her arms. Barry didn't hesitate to bury his face into her neck, his hands clutching the back of her sweater gently as he choked out a sob against her soft skin.
"I'm scared, Y/N." Barry sobbed out, gasping in a breath. "I-I don't have anyone anymore."
"You have me," Y/N whispered, brushing her hands gently through his hair. "You'll always have me."
Barry pulled her closer, letting her wiggle into his lap so he could better bury his face into her neck. "I need you." He whimpered, letting out another sob. "Please don't leave. Don't leave me too."
"Never," Y/N whispered fiercely, pulling him closer against her as she rubbed soothing circles against his back. "I'm never going to leave you. You're never going to have to suffer by yourself again, I promise."
Barry nodded against her, breathing shakily against her as he rested his head against her shoulder. "I love you."
"I love you too, Barry. I love you so much. I'm right here," Y/N promised, kissing his temple tenderly as she ran her fingers soothingly up and down his back.
Barry sniffled softly, wiping at his teary eyes. "You know, that Harry Potter marathon sounds really good right about now." He whispered.
Y/N smiled, pulling back so she could cup his cheeks and press a soft kiss to his lips. "You got it."
Later, when Joe peaked his head into the room, his eyes met Y/N's, who was sitting up against the headboard, Barry's head resting on her stomach. His arm was draped around her waist as he slept soundly for the first time in weeks, his chest rising and falling with every breath.
Joe smiled, looking up at the girl. "Thank you." He whispered to her.
Y/N smiled gently, giving him a thumbs up before he left the room. She ran her hands through Barry's hair once more, giving his neck a soft squeeze of comfort. "Sleep tight, flash boy."
A/N- Honestly, I loved writing this one, simply because I feel like no one ever focuses on how Barry must have been feeling after his father's death?? Like honestly, he literally watched him die, that had to be hella hard and he needs all the snuggles after that, mmkay? xD Anyway, hope you enjoyed!! Love you guys so much!! <3 ~Hayden
