Writing Prompts:
84 - "Yeah, well, I shut everybody out. Don't take it personally. It's just easier."
13 - "I'm not going to leave you. You're never going to have to suffer by yourself again, I promise."
Barry groaned when he was suddenly slammed onto the ground by the meta he was currently fighting, gasping for air as he pressed his knee into his windpipe.
"You're fast, Flash, I'll give you that." The meta smirked. "But not fast enough."
As the meta raised his hand to cut his throat, he was suddenly pushed aside by a large cloud of black smoke, yelling out in pain as he coughed through it, swatting his hands as he tried to make it go away. His eyelids drooped and his hand fell to his chest as he collapsed beside Barry, falling into a deep slumber.
Barry looked up to find the source of the black fog, his eyes landing on the figure of a woman as she made his way towards him. It was his late night fighting companion, Misty as she called herself, dressed in her normal black jumpsuit and pitch black mask. She smirked as she stooped over, reaching a gloved hand out for him.
"Saved your ass." She said, arching an eyebrow.
Barry rolled his eyes and took her hand, letting her pull him to his feet. "Thanks."
"My pleasure."
Barry's green eyes landed on the meta beside the two of them, his eyebrows raising. "Is he dead?"
"Nah. Just knocked out." Misty said, folding her arms over her chest. "He'll be a little dazed when he wakes up."
"You don't say." Barry chuckled, shaking his head and looking up at the female. "I have a question for you."
"I might have an answer." Misty arched an eyebrow, folding her own arms over her chest.
"Why do you insist on helping me? I'm a complete stranger to you and you insist on saving me. I don't get it."
The female snorted. "Stranger? Oh, come on, Flash, you and I go back a good week and a half." She grinned.
Barry couldn't help but smile, but it didn't last long as he saw the meta getting up behind her. His eyes went wide. "Look out!"
The girl whipped around just in time to be hit with a blast of light, sending her flying into a cement wall behind her. She hit her head against the concrete and she fell the ground, Barry screaming her name being the last thing she heard before everything went dark.

"I-I don't get it. How could I have not known?"
"She had a mask and a voice changer, Barry. It's the same as when you hide your identity from people."
"Why didn't she tell me?"
"Well, you didn't tell her about being The Flash."
"But she knew. How the hell could she have known?"
The voices stopped when Y/N let out a groan, her head lolling to the side as she reached a hand up to touch the oxygen tube under her nose.
"She's waking up. C-Could you guys give us a minute?" She heard Barry's voice.
"Of course. We'll be in the next room if you need us."
She could feel the room atmosphere change as the room emptied for everyone except her and Barry. She felt Barry's hand take hers and she squeezed it, her eyes still closed.
"Y/N? Can you hear me?" Barry asked, his thumb stroking tenderly over her bruised knuckle.
Y/N finally managed to crack her eyes open and she looked up at her best friend, her eyes meeting his worried green ones.
"Barry?" She croaked, blinking the fuzziness out of her eyes.
"I'm here, Y/N." Barry whispered, brushing the hair from her eyes.
Y/N sighed gently, leaning into his touch. Her eyes widened. "The meta. The meta - did you catch him?"
"Yeah, yeah, it's okay, baby, we got him." Barry whispered gently.
Y/N nodded, biting her lip as she pushed herself shakily into a sitting position. She looked over at her best friend, smiling guiltily.
"So, uh, I guess you have some questions, yeah?"
"Yeah, I do." Barry said, but he kept his tone gentle. "Y/N..." He laughed, almost sadly. "Why didn't you tell me? I mean, me, of all people?"
"You never told me you were the Flash." Y/N retorted, raising her eyebrows.
"But you knew. How the hell did you know?" Barry arched an eyebrow.
Y/N snorted. "As if I wouldn't have found out. You cancelling our plans? You showing up at my house within a minute after I text you? Claiming you had 'already been on your way'? You're not exactly smooth, Bare."
Barry sighed, raking a hand through his hair. "Okay, fair enough. But Y/N, if you knew, why didn't you tell me you knew? We could have fought together, we could have been partners!"
"Yeah, well, I shut everybody out. Don't take it personally. It's just easier." Y/N said, shrugging as if it were the most casual thing in the world.
"Y/N, baby, this is me. You can tell me anything, you know that." Barry said, shaking his head.
"Barry I was scared." Y/N said, throwing her hands up. "I was scared that if I told you...I don't know, I just thought things would be different." She said, shaking her head. "I didn't want to lose you."
Barry's eyes went soft and he sighed, standing up from his chair. "Scoot over."
Y/N scooted to the other side of the hospital bed so he could slip in beside her and pull her close. She rested her head on his chest and closed her eyes as he tangled his fingers into her hair and cradled her head gently against him.
"Y/N, you mean everything to me. You're never going to lose me. Ever." Barry assured her, turning onto his side so she could bury her face into his chest.
"I'm sorry." Y/N whispered, holding him by the waist and inhaling his familiar scent.
"Shh, don't be." Barry hummed. "I'm not going to leave you. You're never going to have to suffer by yourself again, I promise."
Y/N sighed gently in relief, soon falling asleep in his safe embrace.
A/N- I feel like the ending is a little awkward, but I hope you enjoyed!! Love you guys!! <3 ~Hayden
