"You are so full of it!" Y/N laughed, tossing a handful of popcorn at her best friend.
"It's true!" Barry laughed, holding up a pillow in front of his body to shield him from the flying kernels.
"There is no way in hell that you would be fast enough to beat freaking Superman." Y/N rolled her eyes. They were having one of their world famous movie nights and tonight's movie option was "Man of Steel."
"How are you so sure, hm?" Barry questioned, raising his eyebrows at his best friend.
"You may have speed, Flash boy, but Clark Kent has speed, super strength, laser vision, and can fly. He can fly. Can you fly?" Y/N retorted, folding her arms over her chest and raising her eyebrows.
Barry parted his lips to argue back when he was interrupted by his phone buzzing. "Dammit." Barry groaned.
"See? Even your phone agrees with me." Y/N said smugly, leaning back against the arm of the sofa and nudging his knee with her big toe.
Barry rolled his eyes playfully and looked down at his phone screen. "I'll be right back," he said, his fingers tapping away at his phone as he rose to his feet.
"Well geez, Bare, I didn't mean to chase you off." Y/N grinned, flopping onto her side.
Barry chuckled. "No, no, not that. It's Iris, she wants me to call her real quick. You don't mind do you?"
Y/N tried to not make it obvious as her body deflated a little, putting on a gentle smile and waving him off in dismissal. "No, of course not, go ahead."
"Thanks," Barry smiled, planting a quick kiss on the top of your head before heading into the kitchen to call Iris. Y/N looked down at the sofa cushions to hide the way her cheeks turned a cherry red.
Truth be told, it hurt whenever Barry dismissed himself to go talk to Iris. And don't get it wrong, Y/N had nothing against Iris. She was a great person with a great personality. But it was clear Barry had feelings for Iris, and well, in case you haven't figured it out yet, Y/N had feelings for Barry. But it was pretty obvious that Y/N loved Barry. Well, to everyone but Barry.
At least that's what Y/N thought.
Barry was beyond confused. He had been crushing on Iris since the moment he met her. Everyone knew that. She was his best friend! Sure, it was a little cheesy, having the stereotypical best friend crush, but Barry didn't care. Iris was Iris. But then he met Y/N.
Y/N was nothing but a cute, little ball of energy that made everything and everyone around her so much brighter. Her smile brought out his and her voice was a melody so sweet he could listen to it all day if she'd let him.
Damn, he was a cheese ball.
Point being, he had no idea what he wanted. Who he wanted. They were both amazing people! And they both meant the world to him. What was he suppose to do?
"Okay, I'm back," Barry said as he reentered the the living room, flopping back down on his side of the sofa. "Sorry about that."
"Nah, it's fine." Y/N shrugged, propping her feet in his lap. "How's Iris?"
"Good. Her and Eddie were having a debate that she needed me to settle. She's hilarious," Barry chuckled, shaking his head fondly.
"Yeah, you should see her walk on water." Y/N mumbled under her breath.
"What?" Barry asked, snapping his head in her direction. Shit.
"What?" Y/N played stupid, raising her eyebrows at her best friend, hoping he'd just brush it off.
Barry narrowed his eyes suspiciously at his best friend, turning his body a bit so he was fully facing her. "Y/N, do you have a problem with Iris?"
No, I have a problem with you always running your mouth about her.
"What? No! Of course not," Y/N said, her brow furrowing. "I love Iris, I think she's great."
"But...?" Barry questioned.
Y/N's brow furrowed. "How did you know there was a but?"
"I know you, Y/N." Barry said, raising his eyebrows.
Y/N sighed. "It's nothing, okay? It's stupid, it's just..." She sighed. "Well I mean, I get she's your best friend and all, so don't get me wrong, but you talk about her a lot, don't you think?"
Barry's brow furrowed. "I mean, I guess. But if you're so good with her than why does it matter?"
"Okay, sassy," Y/N snapped, crossing her arms. "I'm just pointing it out, that's all. Look let's just forget I said anything, okay? Can we please just get back to the movie?"
"No, no, I want to know. What's so bad about me talking about Iris?" Barry said, folding his own arms.
"God, Barry," Y/N groaned, getting to her feet and walking to the back of the couch. "This is why I didn't want to say anything!"
"Well, what is it, Y/N?" Barry demanded, getting to his own feet and throwing his hands up. "Do you want me to just never mention my best friend?"
"No, that's not what I want, you idjit!" Y/N exclaimed, throwing her own hands up into the air. "I don't want you to feel like you can't talk to me!"
"Then what do you want?!" Barry exclaimed back.
"I want you, you dumb ass!"
This shut Barry up in an instant. His expression of frustration turned into one of confusion and then surprise.
Y/N clamped both hands over her mouth, her eyes wide. "Oh my God, I said that out loud didn't I?" She breathed. "Oh my God, I'm sorry, I'm so sorry, I shouldn't have-"
She let out a small squeal when she was cut off my Barry's soft lips, his hands instantly moving to her waist and pulling her body against his. Y/N hesitantly moved her hands from his chest to his hair, her arms winding around his neck as she stretched onto her toes to better reach his lips.
Their lips fit together like puzzle pieces, as if they were meant to be connected. Finally the need for oxygen became too great and they both pulled away slowly, resting their foreheads together.
"Y-You finally want me..." Y/N whispered, not really meaning to let the words escape her lips.
Barry only chuckled. "Who says I didn't?"
