Today is the day.
Today, Connor and I finally move into our apartment.
I woke up early this morning, to filled with excitement to sleep any longer. Connor didn't seem to have that same issue though, because he was still sleeping an hour later. I was completely showered and dressed and had eaten breakfast by now and was helping Connor's dad to put the last of our things into the moving van.
Over the past two months, Connor and I had spent hours shopping for furniture and other things we'd want in the apartment, storing most of it in the big shed at the back of Connor's yard. Our things that we already had were slowly packed into boxes and yesterday, we'd put mine into the various cars that were driving down to Cambridge with us.
We'd decided to move in a few weeks before classes at MIT started up so we could get our bearings and get used to being in a new city. So most of our friends had offered to help out with the move. As well as the big moving truck, which Connor's dad was going to drive, there was going to be both of our cars, my parent's car, Tanya's car and Alfie's. Our other friends were tagging along too but we didn't want to take too many cars with us so we were all scattered through the cars.
"That looks like everything." Connor's dad said with a sigh as we pulled down the big door at the back of the truck. "Now we're just missing one thing. That boy of mine." I had to laugh at that.
"I'll get him." I offered. "Half an hour until we hit the road, right?"
"Yep." He nodded and I hurried inside and up to Connor's room. Opening the door, I found him still asleep, curled onto his side. Grinning, I bounded across the room, throwing myself on top of him.
"Connor! Wake up!" I cried. Underneath me, he groaned and tried to roll away.
"Why are you so awake?" He moaned.
"It's moving day, Connie Frannie." I tried again.
"Let me sleep." I laughed and started poking his shoulder until he suddenly sat up. I was caught off balance and fell sideways onto the bed. "Ha. Serves you right." He teased, pulling me back up by my hands.
"No fair. I let you sleep in way longer than I did."
"How long have you been up? And how many cups of coffee have you had." He was still yawning so I giggled and pressed a kiss to the tip of his nose.
"No coffee and I've been up for just over an hour. I was helping your dad pack the van."
"Ugh. You're too awake." He groaned and fell back against the pillows, dragging me with him. I pouted at him.
"Don't you want to move in with me today?" His eyes snapped open as I smirked and he began to laugh.
"Don't take this the wrong way, but if you're like this every morning, maybe I'm having second thoughts." I just snorted and kissed him again.
"You know what I'm like in the morning. You lived with me on tour for three months and we've basically lived together ever since." Despite wanting to crawl back under the covers and cuddle with him for another hour or so, I climbed off him and stood at the end of the bed, arms crossed.
"Troye, come back." He whined.
"Nope. You've got less than half an hour before we have to get on the road. The others should be here soon too, so unless you want me to tell them how you've been lazing around in bed all day..." I trailed off as he hurriedly threw off the covers and scrambled out of bed.
"I'm up. I'm up." He said, pulling on the clothes he'd put out the night before. While he dressed, I looked around his room, noticing for the first time how bare it looked now that all his personal things were gone.
"Your room looks sad." I said and he looked up.
"Yeah. But the memories are still here. And I'm excited to see how everything looks in the new place."
"Me too."
"Okay. I'm ready." He stood up and took a look around his room. His eyes took on a sad look and I went to wrap my arm around his waist comfortingly.
"You okay?"
"Yeah. Just saying goodbye."
"I get it. I did the same thing yesterday morning." For a moment, we stood there, just taking in the room until Connor decided he was ready to go.
We went downstairs hand-in-hand and made a quick detour to the kitchen where Connor grabbed a banana to eat while we met our friends and family outside. It wasn't long before everyone was here and we could get on the road.
Not wanting to be separated today, Connor entrusted his car to Jim while he rode with me in my car. In the backseat were Joe and Kayla plus a couple of smaller boxes. Connor's car had a few more boxes so only Jim and Caspar could fit. Zoe, Alfie, Tyler, Marcus and Niomi were squashed into Alfie's car with the more fragile stuff like the TV and sound system.
Tanya's car had no boxes but Connor's mum, his younger brother and his sister were there for the ride. My younger brother and sister were driving down with my mom in our car while dad rode in the truck with Connor's dad. Admittedly, the thought did make me a little nervous but I was too excited to make a complaint.

My car was the first to pull up in front of the apartment building and the four occupants of the car looked up at the building in excitement.
"Can we get a tour?" Kayla begged.
"Let's wait for the others first. Otherwise, we'll be doing tours all day and not getting anything done." Connor suggested.
"Sounds like a plan. I do want to go up and look again, though." I agreed.
"Well, we have to go and get the keys so we can go up if you want."
"Please?" I begged and Connor laughed. The four of us got out of the car and I took Connor's hand before turning to Joe and Kayla. "Are you two okay waiting here to meet everyone else?"
"Sure. Just don't get too carried away up there." Joe wagged his eyebrows at us and I saw Connor blush a little but I just rolled my eyes at him and started walking towards the building. Inside, we went to the little desk where the doorman was waiting.
"Can I help you?" He asked politely, a smile on his lips.
"Yeah, um, we're moving into apartment 8C." I spoke up first.
"Ah, you must be Mr Mellet and Mr Franta?"
"That's us." I confirmed.
"It's lovely to finally meet you. Just give me a second and I'll get your keys for you." He disappeared into a little room behind the desk and I turned to Connor.
"Can you believe this is actually happening?" I asked him. His eyes were wide as he stared back at me.
"No. It feels like a dream."
"A very good dream if it is one."
"Definitely." He laughed just as the doorman came back, holding two key rings with tags on them.
"Here you go boys. Would you like me to show you up to your floor?"
"That's okay. We're fine to find it ourselves." I replied, taking the keys from him and handing one to Connor. "Um, do we bring in our furniture and stuff through here or is there a service elevator or...?"
"If you park your car just behind the building, there's a service elevator to help you get all your things up. It helps keep the lobby clear."
"Okay, thanks for your help." We smiled at the doorman and turned to the lobby elevators. "You ready for this?"
"As ready as I'll ever be." Connor replied, squeezing my hand. Together we crossed over to the elevators, pressing the up button and waiting for the elevator to arrive.
