Kate's P.O.V
One of my favourite places in the world to be is at my office at work. I love my job alot. Mainly because I started it.
I'm Kate Hayles, a 36 year old business woman. I am the CEO of my Advertising, Marketing and Media Company known to everyone as Hayles Communications. I have branches worldwide.
I was born and raised in Los Angeles, California. I am an only child. Mainly because after my parents had me, they were too busy with work to give me a little sister or little brother. My parents own Hayles group of Companies which has branches in 4 continents and the Caribbean. So yea, they were too busy to have other kids.
Everyone says i'm an affluent woman but I don't classify myself as wealthy. I'm normal like any other human being. Well maybe not that normal because I live in Beverly Hills, California in a big house. That people refer to as a mansion. I have a personal bodyguard and around 20 staff members working at my house and security guards as well. So maybe i'm not normal like any other human being. I won alot of business awards so i'm what you would call a business celebrity. (A/N: Not sure if there's such a thing. Correct me if i'm wrong.) But i'm not a celebrity craze person, so that, I think makes me normal.
I was married but I divorced my husband because I can't give him any children and he wants kids. Well, at least, now he does. Before we got married I told him that I can't have kids and he was ok with it. He told me that we could try in vitro or adopt so that's what we agreed on. Until 3 years after our marriage he says he wants kids of his own and not other people's 'abandoned' kids. I was surprised when he said this because he was the one who said we could adopt. Now he has a change of heart. I don't know what's changed.
After 3 months of arguing when he said that, I got tired of it and filed for a divorce. The divorce couldn't come at a better time because the day I gave him the papers was the day I found out he was cheating on me. Two months later our divorce was finalize.
Now it's being 3 years since we're divorced and i've never looked at another man in that way since. I can't go through all that again. I don't want another man. I am happy with my work and the life that I live.
Just then I heard a knock on my office door.
"Come in", I shouted. Then I look up to see my Marketing Director Andrew Danes walking in my office with a file in his hand.
"I trust that's the file for the proposal to our new client", I said anxiously.
"Yes it is. My team and I had worked thoroughly on it and I think this will sweep them off their feet", he said grinning.
I took the paper's from him and run through it. Everything looks good to me. The design's were really nice. Then again, Andrew did his work so diligently and he's never let me down. He's been with me since the start.
"Well this certainly looks good. Very nice design's. I like it. Good work Andrew, as always", I said still looking on the paper's.
"Thanks Kate. You know i'll never let you down", He said smiling.
"Of course".
"Well I've got to head home now. I'm taking my kids out to the movies", Andrew said enthusiastically.
Andrew has two kids. A boy and a girl. They are really adorable and he loves them alot. He is always taking them out.
"Really? How are they?" I asked.
"They're great. Michael has joined his school little league soccer team and Darcy has just entered another ballet competition", he said.
"Wow that's wonderful. I'm sure they'll do great", I said cheerily.
"Yes I hope they do. Well, i'll see you tomorrow", he said.
"Yes. See you then". I said smiling and he nod then left.
It's really nice to know his kids are doing so well. And he is such an amazing father. Seeing him like this with his kids makes we want to have kids of my own. But as you know, that can never happen. I just wish I could though.
Even though I can't have one of my own I can adopt right? I wish for a daughter.
And then it hit me. I'm going to adopt...
