Alfred's eyes pricked with tears, seeing your bright eyes flood them. He pulled you into a big hug, shaky breaths escaping him.

"Don't cry," he told you, his girlfriend. "The hero's got ya."

"Don't go, please please..." You begged him, feeling the American's strong hand comb your (h/l) (h/c) locks.

"I have to, (Y/N)." He firmly stated, clutching your back.

"Did you have to get that job? Did you have to move so far away?" You accused him, backing away.

"I didn't know I would meet you, I didn't plan it. But, really. You were the best thing that ever happened to me. I love you." His lips descended on yours, your heart fluttering. "Bye, (Y/N)." And he was gone, into the plane.

It had been a week since he had left, and you were miserable. Tissues scattered, ice cream tubs everywhere, The Notebook, P.S. I love you, DVD cases everywhere. Your best friend called you up.

"Babe, get out of the house." She exclaimed, obviously in the car. "I'm picking you up in 30 minutes."

On the dot, you were ready, although a permanent frown stood on your face. She grabbed your hand, giving a light squeeze to it.

"Let's go get ice cream, shall we?"

At the park, you weren't expecting a flower from a line of people you were close to. Your parents, best friends, teachers. Guitar strums were louder as you got farther down the line.

"And I will always love you, wherever you are." You were shocked to see Alfred sitting there, strumming a guitar. He stopped, and you gasped, moving forward to hug you. "Before you say anything, I want to say something. I've known you my entire life, and you're the only one that makes my heart beat faster. Oh god um-" he was super nervous, he wouldn't make eye contact. "I love you with all my heart so what I'm trying to say is- um... (Y/N)..." He waited.

"Will you marry me?" And there he held a silver banded ring with a blue topaz.

Taken aback by his quick, yet amazing proposal, you smiled. "Alfred, yes. Yes, yes! A thousand times yes!" Tears were streaming down your cheeks as he slid the silver on your ring finger, and he swung you around. Finally, his lips landed on yours, for the kiss you had been dying for. The kiss that made you officially Alfred Jones' fiancé.
