After about an hours walk, we reach my house. I open the door and Jeremy pulls me into his arms, and cries softly, holding back sobs. I lightly kiss him, and run my hands through his hair. After we greet each other I break away and Jeremy looks in Kai's direction.
"Who's this Erica", he says with a sarcastic chuckle.
"Jeremy, Kai. Kai, Jeremy."
They awkwardly shake hands and Kai gives Jeremy a nervous smile.
"Um, Come in Kai", I say as kindly as I can.
Kai walks in and studies our home, seeing every crevice the home contains.
"Um...Erica, can I talk to you in the other room?"
"Uh ya sure. I'll be in the other room if you need me". Kai nods and slowly settles into the animal hide couch.
We make our way to our room and Jeremy shuts the door quietly.
"What are you thinking bringing another person to here? Where did you find him anyways?"
I gulp and answer his question.
"He's a guard at the castle."
"Wait, so your telling me he's one of them?"
I stutter and the words escape out of my mouth in gibberish form.
"Is he or not, Erica?" I hear his voice get more stern and harsh and I struggle to answer.
"Y-yes", I murmur.
"He has to go."
"No Jeremy. He helped me escape. He hates the wolves. He isn't like the rest."
"I don't care. He has to go."
"Wait. What if we take him to the city with us then he separates from us and continues his life on his own."
"Fine. And tomorrow I need you to find your old home. We leave by the end of the week."
"No, we have to leave tomorrow. I killed the prince, they'll be searching for us."
"You what?"
"I did what I needed to Jeremy. Now let's pack and we will leave tomorrow. And I lied, I still remember how to get to my house."
"Ok. Lets let him know."

The next day
That next day we leave and they follow me to my old home. Kai already knows the plan and has prepared to live on his own. It takes about two hours to reach my old home, and what I see breaks my heart. It lays in a mess of charred wood and rusted nails lie on the spring ground. I fall to my knees and my hands cup my eyes and I break into sobs.
Jeremy wraps his arms around me and try's to comfort me, but it's to late for comfort. I get up and explore the ruins of my home and find something beyond terrifying in the ruins.
I see a charred Skelton with hair barely attached to its black skull. It's my mother.
