Chapter 23

I didn’t have any more of my memories come back to me for the whole night and I was glad. I was afraid of losing people I care about. I was scared that it would come true. That Elis would be killed in front of my eyes.

“Are you okay?” Elis asks me the instant I woke up.

“I felt better,” I answered as I tried to sit up. It was slightly easier to move but I still couldn’t move without help.

“Here let me help you,” Elis helps me sit up.

“Thanks,” I said gratefully. I look around. Laru was still sleeping, and Anally was eating an apricot. I look around to see that Asher and Night were missing. “Where are they?”

“Hmm?” Elis looks up at me.

“Where are Asher and Night?” I ask. He looks at me for a second before sighing.

“They went to see if they could find Talia,” Anally answers. She walks toward us and sits down beside me.

“Why didn’t they take us with them?” I tried to stand up but I couldn’t even lift myself from the floor.

“You shouldn’t be overexerting yourself,” Elis pushes me back. “Anyway they thought with your condition they feared your life would be in danger.”

“I would get in the way,” I look at my hands.

“You wouldn’t be in the way,” Anally lied. “They thought it would be best for you to have a day to think about…everything that has happened to you.”

“How can I possibly understand the things that have happen to me if I don’t get any answers?” I honestly ask.

“Then tell us what you saw yesterday?” Anally suddenly asks me. I froze.  “You can trust us.”

I tell them. I shyly look at the ground. I couldn’t find it in myself to look at Elis. I felt ashamed.

“You aren’t at fault. Like I told you yesterday I’m not going to die any time soon,” Elis pats my head reassuring me. My eyes started to tear again. “Hey, don’t cry.”

“Sorry…. I can’t help it,” I wipe away the tears.  Anally was smiling widely.

“You two are so obvious,” Anally laughs. I look at her confused.

“What do you mean?” I ask perplexed.

“Don’t worry about it. Anally is just trying to tease us,” Elis smiles. I felt my cheeks warm up as he said that.

“He won’t stop he keeps going,” Anally’s smile broadens. I saw a small blush appear on Elis’s cheeks.

“You won’t stop will you?” Elis asks.

“Nope, I’m going to keep going. It’s so fun to see your reactions,” Anally laughs.

“We’re back!” Asher states in a slightly happy voice. I look at them. Talia wasn’t with them.

“Couldn’t find her?” Anally asks.

“We found her but she ran away from us,” Asher sadly looks at the ground.

“Did she hurt you in any way?” I ask them worriedly. Night shakes his head.

“No, she ran off the minute she saw us,” Night looks at Laru. “Isn’t someone going to wake her up?”

“Who wants to do it?” Asher asks. We all look at each other.

“I guess it won’t hurt for me to try and wake her up,” Anally walks toward Laru. She shakes Laru. Laru doesn’t move for a few minutes. Anally keeps shaking her. Then out of nowhere Laru punched Anally in the face.
