It was awkward. So awkward. No one said anything. They just starred at each other. It was like they were both waiting for the other one to just disappear like magic. Can I be the one that disappears?
"Who is this?" Dustin asked.
"Like I said I am Michelle's boyfriend." Daniel said.
"Yeah YOU said it. I want to hear Michelle say it." Dustin said. They both looked at me.
"Dustin he is my boyfriend." I said.
"See." Daniel said. I slapped him in the back of his head.
"How could you?" Dustin asked.
"How could I?" I asked, shocked.
"That's what I asked." Dustin asked. "How could you?"
"How could I? You're the one that left. You're the one that slowly stopped talking. You're the one that told me you were too busy to talk. You're the one that eventually stopped all contact with me."
"So what? You could have tried harder." Dustin said.
"Excuse me for thinking when you changed your number and told your family not to give it to me was a sign that we were done." I said.
"I.. uh... I..." Dustin was lost for words. I was about to say something in remark to him being wordless, but I heard the door open. Who else could be walking in?
"Mommy?!"
