“Let prince Maglor go if you know what is good you mis” the one on the right said pointing behind me at the prince with the root still holding him down. I made the roots drop him without even looking his way and the prince came to stand by my side, in all his glory I might add because as soon as he came near the knights they dropped to one knee, all except the archer who still kept the arrow pointed at my heart. I was about to break his pretty bow in half when Maglor put a hand on my shoulder noticing my intentions.
“Arien there is no need for an arrow, the Daughter of the Forest was just a bit angry at me, that's all” The archers mouth flew open at that but he didn't show his surprise for long and his expression went blank again as he dropped to one knee and they all talked at once.
“Daughter of the Forest allow us to escort you to the elven court” I did a gesture for them to get up, they all arose as I smiled a wicked smile when all the possibilities crossed before my eyes, yet I knew which one my best option was.
“I'd be delighted for you to accompany me to the elven court” I said helping myself with all the 'how to speak formal English' lessons from my boring English teacher. What I was not expecting after all the drop-down-to-one-knee display was for them to question me.
“How do we know she really is her sir?” The archer asked Maglor shakily, he looked afraid of his answer and was willing him to not explode, and much to everyone's surprise he didn't explode in a she-is-because-I-said-so lecture, instead he smiled at me and nodded one approving nod.
I smiled another wicked smile at the archer as they all got trapped underneath roots, I then flew up into the air to make my point even more obvious and last I made grass grow from the mud with pretty pink flowers as I landed gently on my feet. Picking one up I smelled it briefly and the roots went back into the earth leaving them lying on the floor momentarily before they stood up and looked at me with new... Respect?
“I do love pink flowers” I told them as I turned on my heel and started marching towards the city, without even turning to see if they were coming to know they would follow. Marching towards the city in front of the three elves gave me a lot of time to think , and soon a concerning thought popped into my mind, it was worrying yet I couldn't bring myself to be worried about it, I was sad about it yet my head wouldn't let me get sad. I didn't want to go home. Here whenever there was silence I could feel and almost hear the magic that pulsed through the forest, and most importantly the magic felt like a part of me now and I was fairly sure the other elves could see my magic aura as easily as I could see the prince's, it felt like a part of me I couldn't take away even if I tried because it would rip me apart, and somehow I knew that was what I had felt after my nightmares. I had felt torn apart without the forest, I guess that's why they called me Daughter of the Forest. I looked down and I gaped in surprise for about 2 minutes, my feet were gliding over the ground, never touching it, this whole being an elf thing was starting to be pretty amazing. I smacked myself then to remove the thought from my brain, I didn't like to be an elf and I did want to go home, but no matter how hard I tried I couldn't lie to myself convincingly enough.
I had started formulating an escape plan in my head that I knew I would never use when I walked straight into a tree and fell backwards, but I hadn't gone face first into a tree, it was one of the marble buildings, we had arrived at the city and tons of people were looming over me with hopefull expressions.
They all spoke at once and I heard sentences like “I can feel her enchantment from here” and “I heard she can fly!” over the crowd, I was about to show them how I could fly to get the hell out of there when Maglor stepped forward and helped me up. As soon as everyone saw him they closed their mouths to create a respectful silence that didn't imply 'he's going to cut my head off if I say hello' as much as it implied 'he's an important person that we respect for what he's done' what he'd done was still a mistery but I was still pleased with myself for finding out more information about the prince, strangely I had only realized now that I didn't know anything about him. Then he spoke and the crowd was close to loosing it when they heard his voice and his announcement.
“The Daughter of the Forest has arrived” and then the crowd exploded in cheers of victory and the only thing I could think of as I was pushed through the crowd and towards what I supposed was the court was that these people were really sick of the faeries and very very desperate, to take me in without knowing I was the Daughter of the Forest for sure.
I finally arrived at a big building made of the shiniest marble in town and that had the most enchantment around it, I stopped abruptly to look up at the beautiful edifice when Maglor crushed into me making me stumble and fall on the floor, again, and I had complained about Tom, I had been a serious hypocrite. The memory of Tom yelling my name from the school gates came rushing up to me and like cold water chilled me to the bone, I had forgotten all about him and was here kind of enjoying (very kind of) being here with all this weird crap and he was probably going mad looking for me. I was starting to get up when Maglor tried to pass over me but tripped falling practically on me, I gasped in surprise and noticed that he had a beautiful face, he had the kind of face you saw on a poster on a teenage girls door or the lead singer of a band or both. He had clear blue eyes and dark brown hair, his hair being shook by the wind reminded me of tree tops shaking feebly in the wind without an objective and just simply swaying in motion with whatever came at them. I was almost annoyed by how perfect his face and how his lips moved, wait a minute, I slapped myself with an imaginary hand and my hearing turned back on to hear his last sentence.
“You haven't been listening to a single thing I said, have you?” I shook my head and my face went dark crimson, I cursed my facility to blush as he jumped up and offered me a hand that I refused using the floor to sit up and then push myself up the rest of the way so that I was standing up in the doorway that led into what looked more like a palace rather than a court if you asked me, but of course no body asked for my opinion. In the centre of the room were two thrones that were covered in velvet and looked like the most comfortable thing to sit on in the world, sitting in them were a man and a woman, as soon as I saw them I ran out of breath, they each had enchantment emanating from them, but it was a lot more than Maglor's and it was so intense it was hard to look at. Even more to my surprise at some point their enchantment merged into one and it left a aura of huge intensety surounding them.
“My son, I see you have brought a human girl, why is this so?” I thought he would answer all politely and stuff but he just scuffed and looked at his father with a half amused half pissed expression.
“Oh come on father, you can feel her enchantment, don't pretend”
“I will not pretend, I do feel her aura but how do we know for sure she's the Daughter of the Forest?” I thought Maglor would give me my queue and I could fly up and make a tree crush the palace flat but he just kept talking to his father, everyone ignoring me completely.
“I've seen her enchantment at work and it is even more powerful than yours, are you afraid of that?” My enchantment was stronger than the king's? Jesus Christ I must be hard to look at without squinting, but I couldn't let Maglor fight my wars so I stepped forward ignoring his worried look in my direction.
