“Might have been your imagination?” I shrugged really not wanting to lie to the queen but at the same time wishing I could be anywhere else than here, this was just annoying.
“You also talked in every single elves mind for kilometres, I did not invent the fact that you yelled Why can't I be normal in all our minds”
“I'm sorry” I said sincerely hoping this would be the last of it, the queen looked neutral and she wasn't mean to me or anything but she was still not on the top of my people I want to talk to list. “I won't do it again”
“No please do” At that my head snapped up and my eyes burned into the queens ones, she had a genuine smile and she looked at me admiringly. She liked me? Well that was good news, I really didn't want the whole elf royalty hating me.
“Why?”
“Because it's amazing” OK now that surprised me, holly cow, she was actually fascinated by what I could do!
Ok, anything in particular you want me to yell in everyone's mind?
“Oh yes, yes.” She clapped a couple of time in delight and then left her throne to come stand by my side. I was quite surprised that the queen was shorter than me and only looked about 20, her brown curly hair went down to her waist and she had an amazing powder blue dress with sandals that were the exact same colour, and in her hair were daisies entwined to make a sort of crown that rested gently on her hair. Wow she was pretty. She called one of the servants and he came and gave me a slip of paper. “Read it out in everyone's mind”
The Daughter of the Forest has arrived and there will be a welcoming ball this Saturday at 8:00. I then switched off everyone else's mind Are you kidding me!?
“Isn't it exciting?!” She said jumping up and down while I stared at her wondering what the hell I should do. I was definitely not enthusiastic about this.
“But- I-”
“You'll have a chance to try on your new dresses” She then stopped jumping to look at me attentively. “Oh my, why aren't you wearing one of the dresses? Don't you like them?”
“No, I really do. It's just that I'm really not used to wearing dresses”
“Well that can be arranged right away” And with that she grabbed my hand and pulled me towards the door, she opened it without even touching the knob and dragged me down the hallway to my room. I saw Maglor there and he was laughing noiselessly at the end, when he saw me looking he mouthed 'meet my mum'. Oh God, how could I forget, this was his mum, oh god. We stepped inside and she dropped my hand to go into my closet.
“Um, you really don't need to do this if you don't want to.” I told her and I had an idea that I wasn't going to keep these clothes on for very long, even if I yelled.
“I do want to” She said stepping out of the closet with a lilac dress and purple sandals. I gaped, it was really pretty but now that I saw it close up I noticed that it was also the most complicated piece of clothing I'd ever worn. I really hoped she knew how to put it on. She left it on the bed and went to the door “I'll call one of the maids and they'll come to help you into it” I nodded and sat on the bed next to it.
A minute later a maid was in the room trying to help me put it on but the dress obviously didn't want to collaborate, it wanted to be put on as much as I wanted to put it on myself.
Finally the maid finished and she stepped back, nodding once she left hurriedly. I grabbed the sandals and put them on quickly, I too stepped outside and went right into someone, stepping back I lost my footing and fell down. Just my luck, it was Maglor. He reached down and helped me get up, I wanted to shake off his help but didn't think I could get up in this dress; it was really soft and everything but it was too much of a big change from what I was used to.
