Exhausted

When your day has been too long
And you're just too tired to be strong
Want to bury yourself under the covers
And never come out again

Rain has been lashing against the windows
Just like the pounding in your head
You can hear the thunder and Imagine the flash of lightning
But you are too far away to care

Away, in a world of your own
Stressed, worried and depressed

You toss and you turn
You beg your brain to stop
You pray for release
Into dreamless sleep

When you aren't that lucky
You just lie there, in a daze
Half asleep, half awake
Finally giving up

You can feel the fatigue
Radiated by every muscle
Haven't slept well in ages
You've lost it long ago, the tussle

You have bags beneath your eyes
Your hair isn't combed
You look like sh*t
You feel like sh*t

When was the last time
You did something for yourself?
When colleagues ask, you say
"I'm perfectly fine,"

But only you know
How lonely you are, how alone
In this world that is forlorn
Where duties you must perform
No shoulder to cry on
No one to lean on

For only you know
How shattered you are inside
Like an ornament of glass
Crumbled to nothingness
Broken into a million pieces

Only you know
How shattered you are...
