The 3:30 release bell rang and I snatched my notebook covered in doodles off the AP Calculus desk.

I shoved the notebook into by bag and jogged down the hallway. I shoved anyone in the way into the lockers and ran across the parking lot where I yanked the car door open.

As I was climbing into my car, Caylib yelled for me.

"Kat, wait up!" Caylib shouted as he ran and caught the door to keep from me closing it.

"What?" I snarled.

"I want to talk about earlier," Caylib explained.

"Good for you. Go find Drew and y'all can talk," I replied snarkily and slammed the door. He jerked his hand back with a second to spare.

As I put it in reverse, the passenger door opened and in climbed Caylib.

"Can I please get a ride home?" Caylib asked nicely.

I rolled my eyes and asked where to.

"Baker Street," He replied happily.

I nodded and turned up the music as I pulled out of my parking space.

I changed the song to Get Up! by Korn featuring Skrillex.

Caylib smiled and said "I didn't know you liked this kind of music.

" 'cuz you don't know me. We just met today," I glared as I turned onto Baker Street.

"True," He sighed.

I pulled into my own driveway which was a block away from his house.

"But this isn't my house..?" Caylib said confused.

"I know that. I have to check on my sister." I explained.

Caylib nodded understandingly.

I opened the door to my car. "Well are you coming?" I asked.

"Oh, you want me to come inside?" Caylib wondered.

"Well it's better than a cold car," I answered.

"Okay," He agreed as he unbuckled.

We walked to the front door and I unlocked it.

"Nice place you got here," He marveled.

"I guess so. Four bedroom, three full bath, two stories. Open kitchen," I said as I led the way to the kitchen.

He sat down at the island as I opened the fridge. I grabbed a thermos with her name on it and filled it with green tea. I then walked to the mahogany cabinet and grabbed some original Wheat Thins, poured them into a bowl and a couple magazines from the study.

"Wanna come with?" I offered so I could keep my eye on him.

"Why not?" Caylib replied as he trailed behind me.

I led the way upstairs to the second bedroom on the right that said "Mikaela."

I gently knocked on the door and walked inside. Caylib lingered by the door as I walked to her bedside.

"Hey, Mickey, you feeling any better?" I asked as I helped her sit up.

"Yeah, a little," Mikaela answered. "Is that green tea?" Mikaela wondered.

"Of course!" I smiled as her dimples appeared.

"Yay! Thanks Kitty," Mikaela thanked as she snatched the bottle, her eyes lighting up.

She guzzled the tea before asking who was in the door.

"My...uh, friend Caylib," I explained.

"Okay, I gotcha," Mikeala winked.

"No, really just friends."

"Oh," Mikeala said.

"I gotta go take Caylib home then I'l be back," I said, "Then we can talk about your exciting day."

"Okay!" Mikaela smiled. "See ya later Kitty!" She called.

I smiled brightly and gently closed the door.

"What's wrong with her?" Caylib asked as we walked back down stairs.

"She got the flu. Told me and texted me in fourth period," I answered.

"Ah," Caylib said as we walked through the front door.

I locked it behind us and got in the car.

I shoved the key into the ignition. I twisted it and revved the engine a couple times as Caylib buckled.

I put the car into reverse and backed up into the road. Right when I pressed the gas, the engine died. I tried restarting my car. Even then it wouldn't go.

"DAMN IT!!!!" I yelled and slammed my fist on the dash board.

"I have to push it into the parking lane." I said shoving my door open.

"Alright, I'll help." Caylib offered.

We managed to push my car out of the way before anyone came through.

"Well I guess I'm gonna walk," Caylib sighed.

"No, just wait til my mom gets home from work and I'll drive you," I argued.

"Naw," Caylib said stubbornly.

"Nope. I'm giving you a ride," I demanded, ending the conversation.
