Nekomata is a yokai (monster) with the longest history in Japanese folklore. It is said that there are two types of nekomata-one that lives in the mountains, and the other that eats up domesticated cats to extend its own lifespan, Not only does it understand human langueges, it too speaks like a human. Its two tails are its most distinctive feature. Black nekomata is said to be the most powerful and dreadful.Word has it that when a nekomata eats up a person, it will resemble that victim's appearance. Another rumour is that those who bully cats will be attacked by a nekomata.
